Re: Urgent: How do we stop members' emails being displayed in notification messages (Oct2018)
Some further information - although I don't know whether it's anything to do with it or not. In addition to the issue of flouting the EU privacy requirements, there may be another issue down the line with who would be held responsible for any breaches, as we lodge our email addresses on our groups.io account, not with google and the emails are sent from groups.io. |

One of the members concerned sent me this after I explained your reply to them.? The problem is on the emai notifications sent to to the member.

Re: Importing a csv list
Peter,
Is it possible to select what is copied across and subsequently copyYes. On the Yahoo Group Transfer instructions page click on the green Start New Transfer button at the bottom. /yahootransfer That will take you to the page where you will initiate your transfer. On it you'll see the list of checkboxes for the various sections to copy. You can then leave that page without actually starting the process. I recommend that Members be included in the first transfer. Otherwise their addresses won't be in the Groups.io group when other content (Files and Photos) is copied - and so the ownership of that content will revert to you (the account that initiated the transfer). Thank you for your message following which I have managed to import the cvs file. ?Being new to I mistakenly thought that I had to select the relevant file and click Instal! ?I now know better!
?
We hope to be copying the data from Yahoo soon. ?Is it possible to select what is copied across and subsequently copy more later? ?I¡¯m thinking about photos in particular - we have to decide whether they should be included or not and that decision won¡¯t be made for a few weeks. Kind Regards

SparkleFever,
For the past 3 days, members have reported that all the emailI can think of three things they might be concerned about: 1) The From address of the posting member, in the From field. 2) The From address of members quoted in the message body. 3) Their own address in the message footer. How do we stop this from happening as soon as possible as members areYou can't. (1) and (2) are in the nature of an email list. To and From addresses are always explicitly known to sender and recipient. (3) is harmless - it only shows them their own address. Urgent: How do we stop members' emails being displayed in notification messages (Oct2018)
For the past 3 days, members have reported that all the email addresses on each post are being included on the messages/notifications they receive from our group. How do we stop this from happening as soon as possible as members are concerned about their information being released. thanks SparkleFever from Digitising Divas Group |

Re: How do I make someone a moderator?
Sylvia,
How do I go about doing making them a moderator?Find the person in the group's Members page, and click on their row (anywhere except the checkbox). That will open the member's subscription page. The Role control is a drop-list, change it from Member to Moderator. That will open up some new sections, including Moderator Permissions, Notifications, and Owner Email. Set those options as you feel is appropriate for this moderator's duties in your group. Then at the bottom of the page click the blue Save button. I co-own a group and sadly the other owner has passed away.It was very smart of that owner to have planned for this possibility. At some point, maybe not now but before too long, you should consider promoting someone to the Owner role, so that there will once again be two or more owners for the group. It is the best way to ensure that the group survives whatever life throws your way. Doing that is the same as promoting to Moderator, except that there won't be a Moderator Permissions section - Owners automatically have all permissions. That includes the ability to demote you - so be sure it is someone you trust in that role. Re: subgroup creation fails?
jmarchbold,
There are no members in the primary group, as I have just created it.No. I don't know if your primary group must be approved before you can create subgroups, but I'll throw that out as a guess. Re: LIMITED ACCESS TO ADD ATTACHMENTS
Ellen,
Thanks again Duane, do you think they will change that in the future?I'm not Duane, but I don't. How would you restrict it to just me the moderator/owner?The only way I can think of would be to select /Moderate/ for the Attachments option, under Message Formatting in your group's Settings. Then reject messages with attachments (or delete the attachments) when posted by anyone else. How do you open it up to everyone?Select /Allow/ in the Attachments option. Re: Removed because of spam report
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDon,
What does the "unsubbed" person have to do after they go to the automatically generated link? I've not been through the process
myself. I would have expected it to take the user to a page
where they would confirm his/her desire to resume their
subscription - click a Yes button or something. Except someone
reported off-list that it merely brought her to the group's
home page, none the wiser.

? Shal, thanks for your response. The person "unsubbed" is very computer illiterate and I do mean that! What does the "unsubbed" person have to do after they go to the automatically generated link? Or,does the link automatically re subscribe the person? This person lives close enough that I may have to visit them to provide assistance. Don ? |

As the owner and originator of the polls, I do not know where/how to view poll results.

RSVP responses truncated
Styling for the RSVP responses content allows very little room for display of response content, such that the content is truncated with an ellipsis (the full content is there in the HTML source). There is no way to drill down into an individual response to view all its content.

Re: Now getting the daily digest as Spam.
Richard, So I now mark the Digest message as NOT SPAM. You may have to continue marking them as Not Spam until the filter un-learns your initial mistake. But I was not unsubscribed, probably because I am the Group Owner. Correct, if you are the sole owner of the group Groups.io tries to prevent your unsubscription (by any cause). How can I get the Daily Digest as an ordinary message? Continue marking them Not Spam, and/or try Toby's suggestion of using a filter. Re: Now getting the daily digest as Spam.
Richard,
Your mail client and/or email service provider is the one that is identifying the digest as spam.? You should contact their support. Groups.io can't do anything about that. If you are using yahoo mail, you might try to create a filter and force everything From: groups.io to the Inbox. Toby |

Re: Removed because of spam report
Don, In Wiki under??Notice to member (from 22 March 2018)??RESUB LINK?is listed but the actual?link is not accessible.? The actual link is auto-generated, unique to each case. I presume that the group owner can send (and must send) this notice or is this notice sent automatically? The notice is sent automatically to the user. The copy in the Wiki is just for your reference. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Pending Membership Request - Pending Member Has Disppeared
#membership
Patty, Can a pending person retract a membership request?? Yes, by unsubscribing. If so, shouldn't we see that action in the Activity Log (like we see a Pending Membership activity?) Yes you should. There have been reports that if a user deletes their Groups.io account that doesn't get logged in any group's Member Activity log, even though it effectively unsubscribes the user from all groups. So that could be what happened in your cases. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
