For free groups, each person that applies for an account on Groups.io will be sent an email with a link to click that confirms they entered the correct email address.? On paid groups, an owner/moderator can confirm it for them.? I believe it's automatically confirmed when you direct add someone on a paid group.

The information included in the footer depends on whether the original message was HTML or Plain Text.? It can also depend on your group settings for message formatting and whether the group is set for Reply to Group, Reply to Sender, or Reply to Group and Sender as the default.

An admin can choose people from the members list to send one message to all of them, but there's no option for members to contact more than one person at a time other than by posting to the group.

I've just set up a test group to evaluate Groups.io as a replacement for our malfunctioning Yahoo newsgroup.? However, the Grioups.io calender function seems to randomly assign timezones to events and changes the time, regardless of what I select in the timezone in the event or in the default time zone in the settings section.?

This is a similar (but not identical) problem that we had with our quirky yahoo newsgroup events calendar sometimes setting the time to one hour later than we inputted .? Is this a known problem or am I doing something stupid?

Could someone point me to the instructions on migrating fro Yahoo Groups to Groups.io? I want to transfer all my existing posts and have a way to invite all my existing members. I was told that's possible, I just can't find the information on how to do that.?

Sometimes the messages I get from the group give choices at the bottom to ether reply to group or to the individual, and some messages have not had that at the bottom. Why is this happening?

That means they haven't confirmed that the email address they signed up with is theirs.? They should have clicked on the link in the confirmation email they were sent.? On a free group, you can go to the members group information, scroll to the bottom, and send a new confirmation email.? If it's a paid group, you can confirm them there.

I don't think there's a limit to the number of group members.? (The Update group currently has 507,446!? The next highest public group is ~13k.)? There's likely an unknown-to-us point where the service would slow down if too many people got online at once.

My feeling was that the reason the data will have been obtained and used won't change, so permission will not be required. However, we're very keen that we operate erring on the side of 'legal requirement +', rather than 'what is the minimum we need to do'.

It could probably be done, but I wouldn't do it.? To me, it seems to go against the spirit of limited storage for free groups.

Depending on how much over you are and how important detail is for the photos, you might be able to have them imported at a reduced scale, to the same group as the files, to get under the limit.

I am not an expert on GDPR. ?However, the consent you require is not specific to the communication medium you use so if you obtained consent of the data subject (or you met one of the other five lawful reasons to hold data apply - necessary for performance of a contract; compliance with a legal obligation; to protect the vital interests of a data subject; performance of a task carried out in the public interest; necessary for the performance of legitimate interests by the data controller) then you can continue to send message via groups.io just like you did when using yahoogroups.

Yes, in the dialog, select multiple files then do the Add.? It tries to preview the file content which may cause an error in the dialog display, but the files will be uploaded.

I have a group where the owner has passed away and none of the moderators can invite [email protected] a member.? The group is just a file storage overflow of another group.? I have backed up the group using PF Offline so have all of the files.

Can I do a bulk upload to groups.io or am I facing the prospect of having to upload each file and/or folder individually?

You won't see the Edit Poll option if the Topic is locked.? You'll need to unlock it, then Edit Poll to close it.
