When an email address is included in a message, the part of the message after the @ is not displayed.

How can I ensure that the entire email address is included.

About Polls

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I am just wondering why some of the members in my group when they vote their vote isn't tallied. At first I though they weren't signed in. So I went through the whole sign in process. They were signed in. Then I showed them screen shots of what to look for and they said they got to the voting place and selected how they wanted to vote.
?
Now me being the owner and how I set up the poll I am able to view who voted and how and their names are not listed in the poll. This has happened with a few of the members.

Customized e-mail message footers on Groups.io messages

Brian Vogel

Hello All,

? ? ? ? ? ? ?Since I do not participate using e-mail, at least not routinely, I do not often see the message footers that come in on the individual e-mail messages or digests.? I have on occasion changed my subscription type on various groups so that I did receive some messages or digests.? ?

? ? ? ? ? ? ?Without having gone back to review the ancient ones I still have, I never recall anything other than the standard Groups.io "link collection," an example of which is quoted here from one of my messages, being on a message.? Yet, today, I am getting this for my messages from the NVDA group:
---------------------

---------------------

Yet, minutes later, on an e-mail message from the same group, that came to me as a copy of my own post, it has the following:
--------------------------

Groups.io Links:

You receive all messages sent to this group.

?|?Reply To Group?|?Reply To Sender?|?Mute This Topic?|?

--------------------------

Notice that above all of the Groups.io standard links are shown after the line, "You receive all messages sent to this group," yet they are not present on the footer of a message received that was the result of another member e-mailing.

What's going on here?? Is this a bug?? ?

If you can't rely on "the standard footers" either always being there, with custom ones added if the group owner wants them, or just custom ones if that's what the group owner wants, then it's impossible to consistently refer anyone to anything in the footers.

Just a quick shout out to the Powers that be, Groups IO transferred my yahoogroup over after using it for 15 years and very disappointed that they dont care anymore.

Re: Hww can I repeat notice to user to confirm his email address? #membership #howto

Pedja,

I have few users that request membership but did not confirm their
email addresses.

How can I initiate sending reminder message that would instruct them
to confirm email address.
Click on their email address in the Members list (anywhere on their row except the checkbox). That opens their Membership page.

At the very bottom click the Send Confirmation Email button. Or, if your group is Premium, it will be a Confirm button instead; click it to confirm them directly.

Re: How to set calendar on speceific weekend in year #calendar

Bit cumbersome but it works.

Thanks!

Re: How to disable user? #membership

I tried with settings to no email but it seems to be quite a hassle and is not obvious to see in member list.

If I could change Role to Suspended that would be exactly what I need. I think that would be usable for others too.

Re: Links to older pages with group name change #groupname

Frances,

Will links to older messages automatically find the new URL? And
similarly, links to the home page?
No.

There is no redirection set in place to cause old links stored elsewhere (like a member's bookmarks) to redirect to the new address of the group. This is because the old address becomes immediately available for re-use.

Which provides you with the opportunity to immediately stand up a place-holder group under the old name, saying "We've moved". It could say that on the home page and in a first and only post.

You would lock down the placeholder with only yourself as a member (Restricted Membership, and don't approve anyone). You could set a Pending Subscription member notice saying "we've moved", so that you don't have to manually respond to anyone that attempts to join the placeholder.

Any other suggestions or cautionary notes?
As with the Yahoo Groups trick, you can set the placeholder group to allow non-subscribers to post, and then if anything lands in the pending queue Reject with a member notice that reiterates the "we've moved" message. This will catch any member that forgets to update their address book, or replies to an old message.

No...groups.io does not parse old messages and update any related links for you. A name change is kinda like a transfer from Yahoo in that regard.

Any other suggestions or cautionary notes?
I think you've already identified the main problem.?See also /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/18100671#8144?

That's great evidence.

Particularly interesting is the outbound To address:
To: Rirethy via Email Integration <[email protected]@%!s(MISSING)>
It seems like it should have stopped at "groups.io" and then it would have (correctly) been your group's posting address. The extra "@%!s(MISSING)" looks a little bit like a fragment of coding that somehow leaked through, perhaps a string substitution gone wrong.

I think you should take the headers and explanation you've given here and send it to [email protected] as a bug report. Or if more convenient, send the link to your post to support, along with a step-by-step explanation of how you set up the integration and tested it.

Hello Marilyn,
I have had the same problem concerning the file button to try to upload files and/or documents.? I also sent the "powers that be" a contact message a couple of months ago -- all to no avail!? Thanks for your answer.
See answers below

Le?sam. 15 sept. 2018 ¨¤?21:13, Shal Farley <shals2nd@...> a ¨¦crit?:
thierry,

?> If I make a "reply all" to that mail I've receive, It fills the
?> recipients of that reply.

What does it put in the To (or CC) fields? You might expect it to be
your non-subscriber address (the one that sent the message) plus the
group's posting address.

In the To field, I have 2 addresses :
  • [email protected]
    • Which is the email address of my list
  • Rirethy via Email Integration <"[email protected]"@%!s >
    • Where rirethy is the name of my list. It is not at all the email address of my non-subscriber
But Reply All is one of those features which operates somewhat
differently at different email interfaces.

I have exactly the same behaviour using Gmail webmail, or thunderbird under win10

?> And, It adds an mail address as recipient that ends with :
?> "groups.io@%!s". Obviously it"s an non valid email address.

Can you examine the header of the message you received? Of interest are
the From, To, CC, List-Id, and Reply-To fields. Maybe also Sender, if
there is one. These are the fields normally used, in some fashion, by an
email interface's Reply and Reply All functions.

If that oddball address is in one of those fields, then we'd also want
to look at the header fields of the message as you sent it (from your
non-subscriber address). Your email interface for that address may let
you see a copy of what it thinks it sent, but it would be better to send
another message to the integration address, and this time CC yourself
directly (at an address where you can examine the received message's
header).

Comparing those two sets of fields (on the way in to Groups.io, and on
the way out from it) will likely reveal the origin of the oddball address.

Re-posting messages #announcement

Not a week goes by that I don't "discover" something new re groups.io features, etc.

I see in the settings there are various configurations for allowing members to "repost" messages.

Could someone briefly explain to me, exactly how a member can repost a message? I will admit (guilty!) I'm sorta curious for myself, as it would come in handy to repost various announcements that I make from time to time as a moderator, without copying and pasting and creating a new message.

Thanks.
