Re: Members being dropped
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf they are marking the messages as spam ?and removing them from the spam folder they will be unsubed. Or they might just be leaving.?Let them I say, they will either come back, or they won¡¯t. Maybe they were on digest on yahoo and forgot about that. I¡¯ve learned as a mod to just say bye to?the ones who don¡¯t want to ?stay and not cry over it. They ?will be back soon, or not.

Re: Members being dropped
Max, most likely this unsubscribe phenomena you're seeing right after the transfer is due to all your inactive list members finding out they were transferred, are not participating on your group, and have decided it's time to simply unsub.? Many may have been on No Mail, and didn't even realize they were still subscribed to your list.? Happened to me as well.? I transferred two large Yahoo groups (around 5,000 list members each), so we have quite a few unsubscriptions for about 3-4 days after the transfer.? This is the is pretty normal.

I am receiving numerous messages that members are leaving the gio -unsubscribing?Well they may or may not be; have a close look at the Notifications that you receive when anyone leaves. If there is a mention of being removed for "marking a message as spam" then the members concerned have been automatically "dismembered", most likely by their Mail Service Provider. See this from the GMF wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Removed-for-spam for more information. It may be that your (ex) members have simply decided to leave; the group I moderate had more than a few of those when we migrated last December. We suspected that they were on "no emails" and the notification they received telling them about the move to Groups.io (not excluded by their "no email" choice) acted as a trigger for their realising that they were no longer interested so they just left of their own accord. As I mentioned above, have a closer look at the Notifications that you are receiving. Chris |
Re: Members being dropped
This is common - lots of people who signed up ages ago and have not ¡°read¡± emails or lists will suddenly notice that they don¡¯t want to be in there after all. This happened with our big Groups on transfer - not one name was familiar to me (we mod all posts, so see all the regulars regularly..) You are better off without.. And they can always ask to rejoin¡
Don¡¯t sweat this - one of my groups has 7000 members, I would guess maybe 50 post regularly, if at all..

Question on Members/Directory
I just moved my first group over from Yahoo, and I'm running into a situation that I would like to fix. |
Re: bounced emails
Good morning, My group is for law enforcement agencies, though - and each jurisdiction has their own internet usage policy. I'm not sure if your group is similar. |
Re: Members being dropped
Hi Max! I had the exact same thing happen. And, it continued for the first week or so, then it stopped. I think people are just using the transition as an opportunity to move on from the list since we had a lot of lurkers.?? But, I am no expert by any means, so cannot comment on your auto culling question. Patti |
I have followed all of the steps to transfer a group from Yahoo to Io, but have not had the invitation accepted yet. I sent to invitation back around the July 4 Holiday and again yesterday. I understand it can take 2-3 days, but this seems to be taking a bit longer than that. I'd just like to get a status update if possible.
Thank you Karen |
Re: graphics files
Dang, I guess I should have researched this before I joined. I¡¯m looking for a platform to substitute for Yahoo. I need to communicate with my music group but we also need an archive for images, and video and music files. I¡¯m guessing with the memory constraints, this is not the place! If you have a suitable suggestion, I¡¯d love to hear it. ?Yahoo and Google Groups both seem to be subpar.?
?
Thanks,

Member notices
Hi! So I am finally getting around to updating the group functions for our new groups.io group, and the member notices section is causing me a problem. With Yahoo groups, I had three files that went out to people when they first joined the group. I do not see that option with groups.io. Am I missing something, or is that ability gone? Thanks for any help! Patti |

I think I would argue that your committee has made a rod for its own back and is now looking for someone else (ultimately Mark) to provide a technical solution. Groups.io has its own Privacy Policy and Mark has taken / is taking specialised advice about what is necessary to keep Groups.io in compliance with the requirements of the GDPR, and AFAIK renewals every other year don't feature. I'm far from certain that it is in any way reasonable for your committee to more or less mandate that Groups.io finds a technical solution to a problem that it itself has generated, particularly so given that there is no clear legal requirement behind your request. I have found what I think is your group's website, and I notice that there is no sign of a "Privacy Policy" statement anywhere on it! What I did notice is that there are several photographs of people who I assume to be some of your members; did each and every one of them give you permission in writing to use their image(s) on your website, and how long does that permission remain valid? Feature request GDPR compliance
#membership
All,
Apologies if this has already been discussed or indeed this is the incorrect place for new feature requests. But I managed a groups io list where the committee have decided that in order to comply with GDRP every member must re-subscribe every 2 years. After the issues getting people to subscribe in the first place I can see this being a nightmare! My idea of a feature request is to have an extra field with a date that the acceptance with GDRP was declared for each member. Then have a function where the list sends a URL to each member and by clicking on this the field is updated. Then have a feature where members people with out of date acceptances can be emailed to remind them to do so. (Allow for specific text to be entered). Finally a feature to remove all members with out of date acceptances from the list. Apologies if this has already been raised or indeed it's the incorrect place. The list was created December 2016 so time left! Thanks, Chris |

Re: Limit to number of messages transferred from Yahoo Groups?
The messages don't use any of the available storage.? The list of the items that do is at /static/pricing#what-is-counted-towards-the-storage-limits-for-my-group.? Attachments aren't copied.? Mark recently introduced a 100,000 message limit for transfers to free groups.? For more than than, you'd have to upgrade to a Premium group for a year, but could downgrade after that.

Limit to number of messages transferred from Yahoo Groups?
I have a Yahoo group going since 2007, probably about 30,000 messages, most of them without attachments.? Is it feasible for the groups.io folks to transfer these to a new groups.io group?? Any sense of how much storage space that would require, for example greater than one GB?
Thank you Peter |
Re: Not getting calendar reminders
Shawn,
It is showing up in the calendar at the correct time, there is simplyI'm out of ideas. Note that I am having the exact same problem in 2 different groups. If you want to try for three you can set one up identically in my test group, maybe that way we can spot what's different.
