Change my email, multiple groups

Hello
I'm a long time multiple group owner.? I'm 86 and my technical skills are fading.? My question is, since I've recently had a change in email addys, is it possible to change to my new email Addy in ALL of my groups at one time?? FYI. my old email account can receive but not send emails now, and even receiving will be terminated shortly.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Pending Messages #messages

I use the app all the time to moderate messages. It is easy to use and convenient.?

You could add a bookmark for /pendingmsgs
It shows pending messages from any group.
?
You could also use the app.

I sometimes do it through my email. I filter my mail to go a folder for each group. However I often like to open the message.

Re: Message Recall Failure: Recall

Dear Frances,
?
One person used "message recall" at her end, and then these error messages started being automatically generated in response. The accounts they come from are real people, but they haven't knowingly taken any action themselves.

Fortunately, locking the topic does seem to have done the trick, though it's hard to prove a negative.

Otherwise, I have the nuclear option to temporarily put all messages on moderate, as (the other) Andy suggests.

I believe that's a feature of Outlook.? MS may have made a recent change since there have been a few complaints about these messages lately.? Those messages are NOT supposed to be sent to anyone not using Outlook/Exchange.

I've tried locking the topic on one of them, but I don't know if they're being grouped together as a topic, even though the subject line is the same in each case.

If they're all coming through as new topics then I suggest you ensure your group is set to moderate all messages:

This will give you some breathing space and hold those messages in the Pending queue while the issue is sorted.

I don't see anything about "message recall" in Groups.io itself.

You say that several member accounts are trying to do message recalls in your group. Are they all real separate people?
Could you put your group on moderate temporarily so you can sort things out?

In my experience, even if they do some people will still just hit Reply!

I allow the topic to be created and I review any new topics and messages the next day or whenever I see it.? We are not a high volume group. Although there are over 400 subscribers pushing the group into premium territory, there have been no more than an average of 10 messages a week over the last year. I only get about 2-3 sales type messages a month.?
It is not a burning issue. I just want to keep the group from becoming a flea market before loosing control.?

OK, but since you only get a few messages and it wouldn't be too much work, there's also the option of setting the group to Moderate First, which will catch all messages starting a new topic but allow any replies to it go though, then if it's a for sale one, you can add the ForSale hashtag with it, so this way the message will go out with the ReplyToSender address.

Cheers,
Christos

Not directly, only by changing it in the main group.? This sequence was initiated 7 or 8 years ago, so there are probably few groups where there might be a different Display Name in a subgroup.

Have you tried asking your subgroup members to edit their subgroup profile and reset it?
?
?
Resetting a (sub)group profile causes any changes at that level? to be lost and details are then refreshed from the next higher level. In a subgroup, details would be taken from the main group and in the main group, they would be taken from the overall (account) profile.?? I don't have any members where display names are different between the main group and subgroup so I cannot test it but it is probably worth a shot.? If that doesn't work, I think your only other option would be to contact [email protected].

Re: Display Name: moderator cannot edit? #displayname #display-name

Hi Duane,
I just tested it in a group where I¡®m moderator and which has subgroups. It seems to be one of the type where the display name in the subgroups is automatically made identical to the name in the main group. I changed a display name in the main group (my own name actually), and it got synchronized in the subgroups immediately. And the display name isn¡®t editable in the subgroups at all even though I have the right to do that in the main group. I¡®m not sure if the owner could change it but I doubt it.
I wonder if display names can be changed at all in subgroups, even by the owner? Maybe that¡®s blocked altogether?

When was this group/subgroup created?? There was a change made several years ago that the Display Name in a subgroup would be the same as in the main group.? However, it was only going forward, so anyone that had them different would remain different.? I don't think there's a way to get them 'in sync'.

Ken,

By "reviewing the initial message" do you mean you moderate all messages in your groups before posting, or do you mean after it has posted and you notice it?
