Re: "Mask addresses in archive" not masking the munged addresses?

Christos,

Duane, what I mean is that the GIO-munged address is allowed to
fully-show in the quoted text ...
There's an exclusion from masking addresses in the groups.io domain. Because those are (were) never user addresses. This predates the munging of addresses for DMARC.

So it appears that's a loophole of sorts, I'd say the exclusion should be modified to recognize munged format and mask them accordingly.

Shal
(if this has been addressed in beta forgive me, as I've not been reading those carefully).

Re: new member notification

Thank you Frances and Andy! I apologize for my senior moment! LOL

I missed that member notification tab when looking for the welcome message.
Apparently I knew about it initially because I added a personal message to it
when we first started the group.

Your help is appreciated! Wayne

Yes, they will receive a standard Groups.io boilerplate message which you can customise but cannot stop (it's a legal requirement in some jurisdictions). They will also receive a Welcome member notice if you have defined one (and this can say what you want). There are different Member Notice types for different events and these are described in the Owner's Manual as /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-member-notices.

And if so . . . . where do I find what that text is presently?
Go to your Admin menu and the click on Invite. You will see the standard note and as you type your custom text, you will see where it fits in.

Andy

There is a canned welcome message to unrestricted groups or to a member approved for a restricted group.
But you can edit that message - in Admin, Settings, Member Notices tab.
See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-member-notices/welcome-notice

If you haven't done so already, you may want to customize all your messages here, including the invitation message.
You cannot take out the text already there but you can use all the formatting tools to improve visibility of your text. Be sure to save at the bottom.

Re: Trouble with member trying to get back on a group with outlook.com

Andy's point is important though - the member needn't have created a new account.

"If she wants to change her GMail address to an Outrlook address, there should be no need 'to join again'. ?Simply ask her to login with her GMail address and then view her account details and in the Login tab, change the email address. An email will be sent by Groups.io to the new address and she will need to respond to that. Once that is done, Groups.io will transfer all her subscription settings to the new address. ?This is described in the Member's Manual at /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/setting-account-preferences-and-viewing-account-information?

Sounds to me like a bad case of impatience for you and the member.? Lots of things can affect the time it takes to get an account set up and working.

Telling us what the underlying problem was would be much more useful than just saying it's resolved.? It could help someone else in the future.

Yes, please tell us, as it also helps the ones who replied with suggestions so they know which one worked.

Re: Trouble with member trying to get back on a group with outlook.com

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Sugar,

A few things come to mind.

I'm not sure how this works and whether it's applicable to your group, but if it's a group created with the limited-membership feature (after Feb-2021), could it be you've hit the limit?

Have you tried emailing her directly from your personal or the group-owner address?

Has she checked to make sure the emails are not going to her outlook.com spam/junk folder?? It's a new outlook account and maybe the spam filter is overly aggressive.? If there are groups.io emails in there, she needs to mark all of them as Not Junk and tell outlook to not put them there anymore.? IIRC Outlook will move them automatically into the inbox but if not, she needs to do that too, there should be no groups.io message left into the spam/junk folder.

Otherwise, if there are no groups.io messages in her junk folder, then it must be a typo somewhere, I don't know what else could cause this.

Cheers,
Christos

You don't say what the GMail or Outlook.com issues are so it's difficult to assess.? If she wants to change her GMail address to an Outrlook address, there should be no need 'to join again'.? Simply ask her to login with her GMail address and then view her account details and in the Login tab, change the email address. An email will be sent by Groups.io to the new address and she will need to respond to that. Once that is done, Groups.io will transfer all her subscription settings to the new address.? I cannot vouch for its performance, but several others here have used it and swear by it.
I transferred 8 groups, I think, using the program you mentioned. It worked well
for me.

Contact the developer at Personal groupware about this. He may still have his
program available that can take saved group posts from PG offline to upload into
Groups.IO groups. I don't know what the cost is but when you figure the transfer
cost right before Yahoo Groups was closed down was about $220 or so, it would be
a bargain. (I think you can do the transfer from MBOX files but there would be a
fee if you have Mark do it.)

What I did was create subgroups for the Yahoo Archive in each group I uploaded
with his program. You could instead start with a new group, upload all your old
Yahoo messages, then open the group to new members. That would make the old
messages the oldest posts, followed by the new ones.

I made the subgroup open to anyone without the need to be approved (only members
of the main group can join a subgroup anyway, so they've already been vetted
previously). I also made the subgroup announce only so no one can post to it.
