Selecting landing page
I have two questions and I have been unable to find answers.
This involves the busy group I own, which is affiliated with a small national 501(c)(3). Is there a way to set the home page to ALWAYS display messages not topics when I land there? I understand how to reset the page from Topics to Messages but on my next visit it has reverted back to displaying Topics. It seems to me this began happening a week or two ago. Prior to that, if I set the page to Messages, or to 'Home,' it would still display that on my next visit. Can I control this through settings? My other question is, when I used to visit the group the Home page was displayed. To see messages I had to select them from the menu on the left hand side. That has definitely changed in the past week or two. Now when I visit, the landing page is always Topics. Did Groups.io change this or did I do it inadvertently? tommy0431 |
First following with summary
Mdivine
If member has daily summary
and selects first following under advanced... they should receive any new posts individually also? Does not seem to be working. They got summary but ?new post never showed up. or Do they have to be on individual messages for it to work? mdivine? |
Re: Missing Footer
Ellen,
I am the moderator of the group and usually I can email the membersIn addition to the Plain Text Only checkbox in the group's Settings page that Duane mentioned, If a member posts a message in plain text (like this one of mine), and the group does not have Force HTML Emails checked, then the message will carry the plain text version of the message footer. Though if this has been going on for a week it might be unlikely that all posts in that time happened to be plain text. TAFN Webmaster
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi many thanks for your ideas ?No we are running a free account not paid Did not know if there was a way using wordpress and paid membership pro ? I know there was a plugin for mailman when a member signed up they was automatically ?signed up and when there subscription run out they was unsubscribed Mark. |
You can definitely try to educate your emailservers that way but 100 % success cannot be guaranteed?
?
You can also add to the list of the ones whose emails you trust?
?
You can try out various strategies
?
With good luck you will find one or more that work for your situation/emailservers (some people call Them emsilclients)?
?
Best of luck It is a hassle er know?
?
Best regards

All the member has to do is look in spam folder for email.? Then mark any messages from groups.io as not being spam.
Very Simple.

?Lo| I've never heard of a member being ?? | unsubscribed for marking a message ?? | from another member as spam??? ???? So, you never read messages posted at ???? GMF group, because it's a very common ???? occurence. ???? As it was said, there's no such thing ???? as "message from another member", all ???? messages are from Groups.io on behalf ???? of a member. So, some email providers ???? can decide these messages are spam. ???? The problem is with the Mail Service. ???? The best thing the member should do is ???? change to another email provider and ???? rejoin your group. ???????????????????? [ ] Rubens . |

Missing Footer
Ellen Bourne
Good morning, I have notice this since the end of last week.? I am the moderator of the group and usually I can email the members privately Reply to sender.? I have noticed that this is not an option in the footer over a week now.
Can you please let me know why I am not receiving this option. Below is the footer I see when responding to emails Thanks View/Reply Online (#695):? Mute This Topic:?/mt/74149024/1372623 Group Owner: DanburyCOCMembers+[email protected] Unsubscribe:?[ELLEN_BOURNE@...] |
Re: Geesh, thought I was in the Yahoo Forum...anyway...
Duane,
Should/could this sort of inappropriate post also be helped along by adding an appropriate hashtag and setting the hashtag to 'Only Moderators Can Reply', which would also add a layer of blocking in addition to locking the topic? Or would a hashtag be overkill? It might also be useful to make such a post 'Sticky' so that as a Moderator it stays where you won't forget it. And BTW, in such an instance as this where the post in not immediately rejected, do you contact the member who posted it or just let the 'Mod Note' be the alert? Regards, Paul M. Re: Link to wiki page
That has just happened to me as well - the addresses have changed. (I have a link on the Home page to take members to "Latest News"; much easier to keep the Wiki updated than the Home page.)
Do you have a link that you click on to take you a specific Wiki page? Or, do you have a "sticky Wiki page" that actually displays at the top of the Gneral Messages page? Andy has indicated (above) how to achieve the "sticky Wiki". Otherwise, just copy the web address of the desired Wiki page and edit the link on your General Messages page. HTH, Brian. |

A member who marks a message as spam in their email system may have ignored the [groupname] in the Subject line -- which is intended to indicate of the source of a message. I've found that many folks who are not as deeply into this stuff as we are don't understand
the [ ] protocol in email lists and groups. While you don't want to burn up a lot of space in the subject lines, you do need to be explicit in what you put in the setup parameters for any email list or group.? --cg

The best thing the member should do isI think better still is to resume their existing membership, using the link provided in the notice that was sent to them, and then later go to their account and change their email address. This will preserve their membership info (join date, subscription options, role) where re-joining under the new address will not. Note that changing their email address in their account will update all of their group memberships, not just the one they were removed from. If the person can't find the notice to resume their membership, they can still log in to Groups.io and change their email address rather than rejoining. I'm not absolutely certain what happens to the removed status in this case though. I would hope that it would be reset, but possibly that's a trap-door in the system.
