I can only set it to receive domain emails to their personal one. I only check this forum once in the morning under the digest feature.?
If will email you privately where to find the auto forward feature (domain to personal). It used to be easy to find but it's now buried in an advanced feature which I can't recall offhand so I need to get back to my computer later this morning.? If they want to reply using their domain email from their personal address, (which is what I do), some can. I use Gmail which allows me to reply from the address that it was sent to.?Gmx does the same but not all ISPs offer that ability. If not, then yes, they do have to log into the domain to reply.? -- Sandi Dickenson Moderator of ASG Volunteers Group |

Dreaded REPLY TO request for understanding
Greetings all,
I've beaten up all I can find, read more than covers the topic and find myself very confused and more than a bit disappointed in the apparent non-function of REPLY GROUP AND SENDER. I was hoping for an elegant means of allowing message recipients to reply to whom they wanted, fairly clearly (in a revealing way -- seeing who the addies are), and definitely easily. This whether from the web interface, webmail or an MTA (mail client.) I've administered a number of listservers, Yahoo! Groups, and the like, using all of that mentioned. I favour use of REPLY LIST in a (good) MTA (from 1996 to now) and REPLY (to Sender/Originator.) The non-munged approach. (My mobile MTA (K9 Mail) forces use of REPLY ALL. sigh.) I became Owner of a Y!G a couple of weeks ago to help save it. It was set for Reply Group. After several days of reading, trying different settings, and testing from and between the three chief means of accessing messages I've given up and have set it here to REPLY GROUP. Just what is expected to happen when one sets it to REPLY GROUP AND SENDER? I've seen seemingly unpredictable responses, with up to three choices, and _no_ choices! I can hit up REPLY or REPLY ALL (REPLY LIST not appearing in Fossa Mail, Thunderbird fork) and get no satisfaction. Sorry, super tired after learning at a great rate, working for days to achieve an optimal (plus cheap) save and feeling confounded in spite of prior knowledge, trying to not assume overly much, toward a satisfactory response. I feel like I've gone dumb and have disappointingly decided to press on with the lowest common (munged) denominator. <grin> So, a wordy plea to make my case and help my understanding in this matter. I'm sure there may be some good questions about settings I've tried. I'm really beyond that. What can be achieved? What needs to be set to do it? Transfer from Yahoo Groups no longer available?

I wanted to transfer a group from Yahoo to Groups.Io. However, there is a message telling me it is no longer possible to do so.
Is this permanently, or only temporarily? |

Private (and not) response breaks "via" showing "via address=domain.xx@[]"
Using Private response, logged-in at the web interface generates in some instances a lack of a "via" path (my interpretation of what is observed.)
A post of mine, viewed from other subscribed accounts of mine, using an MTA (mail client), show this on occasion: address=domain.xx@[] Somewhat strange. Now, the same use (logged-in to web interface at GIO) and sent to group/sender produced the same. On occasion. (Private mode obviously not used.) address=domain.xx@[] Very strange. Thoughts? An aberration? A little burp as we super load the system? Thanks, John -- J.D. Erskine Victoria, BC |

This is a bit of dumb question but what do you all call this service? Pronouncing "Groups dot I O" doesn't exactly flow off the tongue. Rob, besides the pronunciation question here is some information to the extension .io from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (which you probably know, but just in case): "The () .io is assigned to the . yahoo DLs + why my links didn't all migrate over here

The download includes all groups of which you are a member, mod or owner.Shal, thanks for the info!? I read yahoo's new help page the other day, and it appears I need 3 new programs to read everything.? Yay!? I'm not technical, and have never heard of these readers or file types.? Everything is just raw data hieroglyphics.? I thought a word type program would be able to make them friendly.? Apparently not. ? It does not appear to contain complete content of Files, Photos, or Attachements (at least in my downloads)V. disappointing :(? Glad they will be here, at least!? Can I DL, say, files, from groups.io to my hard drive/OneDrive/google docs/dropbox?? What about msgs?? Sorry that answer's probably on a wiki page or something. BTW, I figured out why many/most of my links did not migrate to groups.io.? It was not a yahoo glitch.? I had such a big library of links that I had them organized into folders then subfolders in the links section.? Since groups.io doesn't have the capability to create subfolders in links section (or not that I could figure out, anyway), those in subfolders were the ones that did not come over.? Only links in main folders migrated.? Maybe in future subfolder support can be added.? In the meantime, I am manually importing the missed links one by one (edit link>copy>paste) and creating subcategories by simply repeating the main topic then using a colon and each subtopic.? It looks repetitive in the index, but maintains the organisation.? I thought I'd mention this if no one has brought it up yet, in case it helps someone. Droxine |

Re: Thanks
It is easy to say decommission and move on. Groups have a role to play. Thankfully we have an option today due to the foresight of Mark. With a good business plan we can see groups continue to flourish. Many professionals such as myself depend of groups to help us provide outstanding service to our clients who deserve such service. Only those who have experienced the power of groups can understand why groups have long future and all of us should support a self sustaining business plan. Nothing is free in life. Everyone has a price to pay and should pay cheerfully because of the value we get back. MKR On Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 12:34 AM Gary K. Re: PGO-2-GIO is live!
A good strategy for someone using PGO-2-GIO for the first time is to pick a throwaway group name and do as many upload/delete cycles as needed. This will screen out bad attachments, file names munged by Yahoo, and other oddities. Once the messages and files have been groomed as needed, create the new group name and do a final upload. Then delete the throwaway group.
I had suggested that Wilson include an instruction to that effect with the final version. Larry |
