I¡¯m confused. I gave the go-ahead to transfer my group Mon 10/21st and as of 11:25 AM, Sat 10/26th my group is on step 3, 101st in the queue. I don¡¯t get how your group can be 24 places ahead of me.

This is certainly true. And of course this would?t even be practical for important messages as the ones I cited.


I certainly wouldn't argue against the topic being sticky in Messages view, but seriously doubt if it would greatly increase members' awareness of them, unless you have managed to get your members to work mainly or solely from the web UI.
(If you did, please tell me how because I might try to copy it!)

Hihi! No, I regret I haven?t found the trick to do so yet but I am working on it. And as far as the inclination for reading is concerned, even if they did work mainly from the web UI, I doubt many of them even read the sticky messages. Most members don?t even read the footers which are permanently included in mail messages. Biut nontheless: I write my guides and other texts for the few ones who read, most possibly ?I am an uncurable optimist¡­

Can you confirm that you are still the Group Owner; please don't assume, check!

Assuming that you are still listed as the Owner have your attempts to post been from your own (registered) email address?

Now this is a very long shot; check your settings; under Spam Control make sure that Announcement Group is not checked. (As an Owner or Moderator this should not make any difference, but things seem to be getting desparate!)

I tried posting to the group from a NON-subscribed email address, it was properly rejected, and got a rejection message back.

Just for some reason, valid posts are not getting in.

While I agree with you wholeheartedly the concept of a Sticky Topic only has meaning to members who use the web UI as a matter of routine. (FWIW that is my own personal preference.)

Received email from groups.io to make [email protected] a YG moderator, did so and gave the transfer go ahead

Fri 10/25 1200 ET

Mark and the groups.io team are running as fast they can, please be patient with them. They have responded to the Yahoo debacle like no other company has.

Would it help if someone else joined your group? Sent a message or two to your group to see what is happening??
If you are moderating messages, you could make sure it had Test in the subject line.


In trying to post a message to the group, once the message is sent, nothing happens. There is no bounced message back. There is no acknowledgement on the site. There is no echo of that message to the group. it just disappears as if it had never been sent.

I have sent several test messages. They are just gone. I scoured the various settings, to see if something was turned "OFF", but it doesn't seem so. A little frustrating!

The odd thing, is that the group was all working fine before the auto-transfer from YG. I posted a bunch of test messages, and they were all sent out fine.

I'll try adding another member, to see if that wakes up the software, or see if I can actually do that.

Frances,

I understand what you are saying. But sometimes owners and moderators want to send a common message which should not appear as sent by this one single person.

Therefore I was quite happy to see there is a possiblity to send from the owner-address, and then disappointed to realize it doesn?t work properly. The owner-address doesn?t even show up as sender. Only in the mail it shows.

As I understand this issue was brought up before; but I also wouldn?t bring this up again in beta, at least not right now. Mark is too busy getting all these transfers regulated in time.

Victoria is not doing that anyway; look at the screenshots; she composed "Test" using the web UI with her "owner" address selected, but when it was eventually posted it just appeared as being from Victoria with the white cat displayed. Agreed. That would be a useful improvement. Both are standalone messages - both are currently locked so no new messages can accumulate.
