I wouldn't.? That could lead to problems, especially after it's been accepted.

The easiest way is not to pay for the next cycle.? Mark mentioned the other day that a notice will be sent 2 weeks before renewal, so you should be able to downgrade at that time.? Just make sure that your group content fits within the limits of whatever plan you downgrade to.

Re: How to remove the "Apply for membership" button.

If you change to not private, not visible in directory, potential unwanted members cannot find your group.
If your group is closed and membership is closed, there is no reason to be visible in the directory.

You can still invite your club members or, if you are a premium group you can direct add members of your club.? They need to know you plan to do that before you add everyone ib your club.?

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

I just found it by searching members with just "transf". Perhaps it would be a good idea to resend the invite? Perhaps the email was sent that the invite was accepted by mistake.

I have paid for Yearly Premium, but want to automatically downgrade at the end of this period. How do I do this? (see msg)

I was going to select the Downgrade option now, but when I do, the message that appears prior to confirmation
is that the downgrade will occur after the current monthly period...yet I am on the yearly plan.

Transferring Content from Yahoo Groups to groups.io #transfer

Doug,

You may want to review this post on detailed steps to transfer content from Yahoo to groups.? It will transfer all members, photos, files, etc, based on your preferences.

You should also join the Group Managers Forum if you plan to admin the group - or have someone who volunteers to do so.

Re: after almost 24 hours, [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

I sent my invite on Tuesday and got the notice today they had joined my Yahoo Group. So that was about 3 days. However, I have not received the email that is supposed to come telling me to make the [email protected] a moderator yet. I'm waiting for that before proceeding to the next step. Need to follow the instructions from /yahootransfer verbatim.

Steps To Transfer Your Group

These steps?must be done in this order?otherwise the group transfer process will not happen.

  1. Create your new Groups.io group and upgrade it to premium for a year.
  2. Set up and start the transfer process by clicking the?Set Up New Transfer?button, below. You'll be asked to select your Groups.io group and for the name of your Yahoo Group.
  3. Send an invite?from your Yahoo Group?to?[email protected]
  4. We will accept the invite and then send you an email directing you to make the?[email protected]?member a moderator.
  5. After you have made the?[email protected]?member a moderator, return here, select your?Existing Transfer?transfer, and tell us that you are ready for the transfer to happen.?Your group must be signed up for the Premium Yearly plan.
  6. Once we receive the go ahead, as soon as we are able, we will download the member list and other parts of your Yahoo Group and directly add your members to your new Groups.io group.

Re: Step 5 - no green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button. #transfer

Thank you, Bruce, for the quick reply. I am fine with waiting if that is what it is all about and I haven't messed up on my end. One more question - if I don't act on the green button ASAP, as in a few days, that won't affect anything, will it? We are heading into a likely power outage weekend and I am not sure how useful my phone might be at that time. So my green button might languish a few days.

Several people have recently reported that the status has been slow to update at this stage of the process. An email will eventually be sent to you, and the status will update (and the "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button become active) at that time.

Until it does, all you can do is wait (and keep checking periodically).?

Hope this helps,

As indeed am I. My "contact" has again spoken to BT and had to go through the entire rigmarole of explaining the problem again. The response at the moment is that if the web UI works then that is seen as OK and a problem when a client is in use is something in which they are not really interested. Not a satisfactory response really, given that the use of email clients of one sort or another is a very well - established practice.

That aside they agreed to refer the problem upwards and he is awaiting a phoned cll on Monday from "Level 2". Depending on what happens then he will try to engage Ofcom's interest.

Michael -- If you go through the process described in?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Profile-and-Email-Address-and-Merging-Accounts, then yes.

If you don't go through that process, and lose access to the email address that's associated with your account, you may find yourself unable to log in at all. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Group-Content-Is-Missing

Terry -- Since the transfer agent is now a member, it's okay to go ahead and make it a Moderator, in advance of the notification email that groups.io will eventually send to you.

However, you will not be able to proceed further until the transfer status updates. See the post I just sent to Susan about that:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/20678

Re: Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer

Hi. I got notification from Yahoo [email protected] is now a member, but it sounds like I need to wait until I receive notice from Groups.io (step 14) before I [email protected] to moderator. Is this correct or should I promote them now since Yahoo recognizes them as a member?

Step 5 - no green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button. #transfer

Okay so last night I got the email that the invitation had been accepted. I went back to Yahoo and made groups.io a moderator.

In Yahoo I see the little crown so all appears to be fine there.

?

I came back to groups.io and went to instructions that said, "Once again, pull down the Existing Transfers menu at bottom right and select the group you're ready to transfer. On the resulting page, click the green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button. "

I? can do the pull-down menu, choose my group, but on the resulting page I DO NO have the green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button. At the bottom of the page there is a blue "update transfer" button, a delete button, and an expedite button.

?

Please advise. I tried last night before bed and again this morning, making sure to refresh pages.

?

Thank you.

Re: HTML links with thumbnail preview? #howto

Joel -- Ah, a fellow stargazer! And only one state over, too.

A clickable image is a construct often abused by spammers. You could try to send this to the group via email instead of using the online message editor. I've occasionally seen emails get forwarded with things that the editor strips. No guarantees.

Good luck,

Re: after almost 24 hours, [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

Rhoda, don't forget that you can check the status of the transfer.

From the FAQ -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups

11. How do I check the transfer status?
?
Tansfer requests are sorted by when the go ahead is given to transfer the group.

When you click on the green "Set Up New Transfer" button at bottom left of the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), a new page will come up where you can enter the source and destination group names.?
?
There is also a series of checkboxes for the various areas of the group to transfer (files, photos, members, messages, etc). Simply uncheck the ones you don't want before clicking the "Start New Transfer Process" button.
?
If you've already started a transfer, return to the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), select the transfer you've already started from the "Existing Transfers" list (pull down the menu and click on its name). On the resulting page you will see the same series of checkboxes. Uncheck the ones you don't want and then click the "Update Transfer" button. Actual transfer status for any ongoing transfer can be found in the status box at the top of the page.
?

You need a plain text file with the correct information to create invitations.? Anything else will likely result in an error for all of them.? Once you've sent the invitations, you can look at the list to see what the status of them is (sent or accepted).

Re: Importing a CSV FIle into the Database #database

I tried to day to import a CSV file table into my database section but failed. I followed the instructions but not happened, it did not import. The CSV file contains a few hyperlinks to external web pages that I own.
Peter -- You can't create a table by importing a CSV. Groups.io has to first know what data type each column is. Create the database table first, taking care to include all columns, and make sure to get all the data types right. If everything is set up correctly you can then import the CSV using the "import rows" function.

Hope this helps,
