Re: Bulk Change of Member Moderation Settings

Thank you, Shal, that is very helpful. The process would be a bit quicker if I could sort or filter on current moderation settings, but with the items per page set to 100 I can go through and update fairly quickly.

Confirmation and directory entries
Arthur Cooper (IT and Comms)
Hi,
?I am the owner of a small group of six or seven members. I have a ?problem that maybe you can help with. All but one of the members are receiving email messages from other members. However one member does not receive any messages to the group. That member is shown n the member list but NOT in the directory. The members name is marked as NC which I assume is not confirmed. The member has not posted any messages to the group. What should I or the member do to correct this ? |
Experts advice sought!
Good Day everybody,
I am an Owner / co-Moderator of a smallish group (<350).? Twice a year some of us meet in different parts of the UK - no problem. However, there is another similar group (on FB) with a larger membership, some of them have membership jointly with us - no problem.? The problem arises when the joint FB members advise their FB colleagues, the majority are not members of our group, of our meetings and want to come, which we don't really want - unless they join groups.io. A suggestion was made that we create a sub-group and it is used specifically for our meets with membership of it restricted to potential meeting attendees; my question is If we do this, will the email addresses etc change?
What are the pro's and con's of doing this? Finally, is it worth it? Hope this makes sense?? Any suggestions from this forum would be extremely welcome. Regards and have a good day-- Peter |

Re: Email Delivery Options for Message Topics
#featurerequest
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAkshaya January Owners Group admin,I would like to request a feature where Email Delivery options can be set up on individual topics or hashtags. When a topic starts to get too busy there are some ways you can control that particular topic. See the drop-menu in the Topics list. You can moderate the topic, lock it, or modify its reply behavior: The same options are available through the Edit Topic item in the More menu when you are looking at the topic rather than the list. The Reply To overrides may not be entirely effective when members reply by email, depending on the member's email interface. or Is it possible already to do so by any other means? As Frances noted, the members themselves can also exert some control over which messages are sent to them (Message Selection). This can be done as part of the Advanced Preferences section of their Subscription page. See Advanced Preferences under Subscription Options in the Help page. Members can also choose to Mute an individual topic through the Mute This Topic link in the footer of any message in the topic. See the Muting and Following in the Help page as well as Your Friend the Footer in GMF's Wiki. Re: Member welcome
Nancy,
Right now members receive two messages. This on and one from us.Weird. My understanding is that Groups.io only provides a default Welcome notice if your group hasn't created and made active at least one. That text you quoted does not look familiar, nor in Groups.io's typical style. Are you sure your groups Member Notices list doesn't have two Active notices of type Welcome? Re: Bulk Change of Member Moderation Settings

#moderation
Dave,
I'd rather have these set to "new user moderated" or "normal" (which INo. If you set them to "Use Group Moderation Setting" then their messages will be governed by the "Moderated" checkbox in the Spam Control section of the group's Settings page. The "New Users Moderated" checkbox (in that same section) causes new members to start with the "Override: new user moderated" privilege, but as you've observed that doesn't apply to members copied over during transfer. Manually setting them to that privilege will provide the same effect. When the set number of messages from that member has been approved the mechanism will change their privilege to "Use Group Moderation Setting". Is there a way to modify these users settings in bulk?In the Members list you can checkmark up to a page full of them at a time and choose "Change Moderation" from the Actions menu (at the bottom). You can change the number of members shown per page by adjusting the "Items Per Page" setting in the Web Site Preferences section of the Preferences page in your Account. Bulk Change of Member Moderation Settings
#members
#moderation
I run a group that was imported from Yahoo, and it seems that I have several hundred members whose post status is set to "moderated." I'd rather have these set to "new user moderated" or "normal" (which I believe would be effectively the same thing, since new user moderation is the group's default setting... right?).
Manually editing several hundred user profiles isn't something that appeals to me very much. Is there a way to modify these users settings in bulk? Thanks, Dave |

Re: Member welcome
Hi Duane
Do you mean adding by sending out our own welcome message (already in place via settings) or is there a place to add to this actual message copied below? Right now members receive two messages. This on and one from us. If that latter,? I'm not seeing where that is. Can you point me in the right direction? Photo albums
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello:? I am trying to understand photo albums within Groups. Even in the Group Manager forum, there is one photo album with 400+ pictures? I want to delete a photo album in one of my groups that serves no purpose. How do I do that? And can I not set up separate photo albums for individual projects? ? Thank you for your help in this matter. ? Donnell Bell ? Donnell Ann Bell
