No, those are the signature separation marks.? You don't have to have an automatic signature on the site, but they'll be there if you do.? Your email client may also add them even if you don't enable them on site.

Not really.? The only time I edit a poll is if I think of an additional answer that may be selected by a lot of people.? The existing choices don't change, so aren't completely void, though may not be completely accurate either.? It's easy enough to let folks know that the options have changed, so they can change their answer if they want to.? I haven't tried changing existing choices, so I don't know what would happen with your example.

Yes, if you set the Spam Control setting on the subgroup to Restricted Membership.

2. Would the posts in this subgroup be visible only to the panelists?
Yes, if you set the Privacy>Visibility setting to private messages.

Hope this helps,

Re: Not getting messages

Go to Admin>Members and look at his subscriber record. Does it should a blue or red "B"? If so, his email is bouncing. Click on his Email Delivery History (button at the top) to see details. Assuming his Y!Mail account is actually working now, you can manually send him a bounce probe. When he clicks on the link in that email, it will unbounce his account.

Failing that, click on the user record to open it. Scroll down to Email Delivery. Is he set to No Email or Special Notices? If so, switch him to Individual Messages and click the Save button.

Hope this helps,

Please no.

Those two dash marks (actually "dash dash space") are "cut marks." They allow some email programs to know where a signature and other material extraneous to any response to that message begin so they can automatically cut it out of any response.

Will editing a poll during voting change the voting results?

It's not supposed to. I haven't had it change one yet. I remember on Y! that it reset, so you went with the original or started over.

Polls SHOULD start over when they're edited.

There is no way that poll results are accurate when the questions and/or possible answers are changed midstream unless the poll starts over. This is something that Y! did right.

A silly, but illustrative example...

Initial poll: Which do you like better? 1) Chocolate Cake, 2) Brussels Sprouts?

Edited poll: Which do you like better? 1) My child, 2) Chocolate Cake?

Imagine the results if half the respondents responded to the initial poll.

Wiki ToC

Sorry, I have read the help and other topics, but I'm still struggling with inserting a ToC for a Wiki.? I have created a page, inserted several Header 1's along with sample text and then at the top of the page inserted a ToC.??

The result after saving has the?as #1 in the list with the other header 1's following.? I'd really like to use the ToC, but I don't want to create a different page for each topic or have everyone scroll down through the topics to find what they need.? This is displaying this way both for me after I save and for a normal user logging in.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Beth

Re: Topic EDITED flag ¨C Who can see; who can access . . .? #howto

Thanks Duane. That's what I needed to know.

The only way around that that I can see then would be to delete the post and re-post it with the changes.

That of course would not delete the original post as first sent to those members receiving the post via Daily Digest or Individual Emails.

Subgroup for Group panelists/moderators? #subgroups

The group I own has panelists who lead discussions among our members. If I set up a subgroup for the panelists,

1. Would I be able to set the membership to closed to only our panelists?
2. Would the posts in this subgroup be visible only to the panelists?

Thanks!
Paula

Not getting messages

I have a member who is @yahoo.com. He's not getting individual e-mails from the group. Is this generic to yahoo, or an individual issue. Any solutions?

Don't know if this is the place to do this or not but

KUDOS

to groups.io. ?Our small group moved over from Yahoo in April and we couldn't be happier!

I still, this morning, sat tensely as I put a clipart in my post.

You wouldn't believe the number of times I'd put a clipart in my Yahoo post and loose the whole darn cotton-pickin' thing! ?It got so I'd copy/save anything substantial I'd composed onto Word. ?

Once again, this morning, I sent a good morning post to the group, added some clipart, and sat tense waiting to see if it'd disappear or not go through. ?It went! ?This is such a relief and I'm glad to be here. ?Please stick around for another 12 years! ?Thank you!

P.S. ?Is there a way to eliminate permanently those 2 little dash marks that appear before the customized signature? ?Thank you again!

Re: DIRECTORY - LIMITED TO VIEW OF MEMBERS

The Directory will only show those members that have created a group profile and have set it to be shared (owner/mods will see everyone).? The only way to make sure everyone can see everyone else is to make the Members list available to all.? That includes email addresses and other info, so may not be what you want.

With that setting, all replies go to both the group AND the sender.? If you normally want replies to go to the group, select Reply to Group as the default.? The footer should have a Reply to Sender option shown.

A member of our group is getting this response which I have attached.? I emailed him individual and he is getting the response at the bottom of the image
That appears to be the home page of your group.? I don't see any errors or messages.

Everyone can see the Edited badge and click on it to see the edits.? The only way to 'hide' it is to disable editing of messages.

One of the members of Danburycoc group.io can only see three members on his i-phone, table and laptop. Currently, they're 21 members?and more to accept their invitations..? Can you please give me the directions as to how he and others (if this should arise) could see all the other members in the directory.?

Topic EDITED flag ¨C Who can see; who can access . . .? #howto

Was wondering who can see the edits made to a post online at a GIO group.

I'm a group owner and just noticed the blue 'EDITED' flag at the upper righthand corner of an opened message.

Also just discovered that as an owner I can click on the EDITED flag and see a list of the edits by date of edit and also open and view them.

I also discovered that as a regular member (via a 2nd registered subscription to my group) I can still see and click on the EDITED flag and access the changes, although they are somewhat more limited.

So my question is, are there any group settings available for hiding the edit flag from the general membership and/or possibly from the Moderators. Haven't been able to locate any controls specifically dealing with this.

TIA

Re: Account disappeared #membership

This is a new one on me.

"Email marked as spam" cancels your subscription to a group. It does not delete your account.

So I'm wondering if we're talking about the same thing.

If his account actually did disappear, my guess is he may have tried to do an account merge or deletion and swapped the email addresses.

IT professionals make mistakes, too.?
