The Delete and Spam buttons are adjacent, but not (IMHO) all that close together. Don't forget that Yahoo is one of the mail service providers that from time to time enthusiastically sets about declaring Groups.io traffic as spam even when it clearly isn't, although by itself that should not result in members being unsubscribed. The mechanisms are described at length in the relevant GMF wiki page here so I won't regurgitate it all in this post. If you haven't already done so please draw this wiki page to your members' attention so that they can read it for themselves. Chris |
suddently several members being unsibscribed for marking a message as spam
I'm wondering if something is happening with Yahoo Mail today?
We've had several people unsubscribed from the group for marking a message as spam and they were all Yahoo email addresses. One was unsubscribed twice and rejoined twice just in the past 24 hours. I thought this was odd so I checked the domain of the email addresses and they were all Yahoo email addresses. One told me that the button for marking a message as spam and the delete button are very close together and it's all too easy to do this, but unless this was a very recent change, it doesn't explain why this has happened to about 1/2 dozen members in one particular group. Two of those happenings were by the same person, who thought previously (a few days ago) that he had it fixed so it wouldn't happen again. We can talk about this until the cows come home, but it seems to me that the answer couldn't be any clearer. Arlette, just to be clear - are you talking about deleted groups on Yahoo or on Groups.ioFrances makes a good point there; your original post was a bit short on specifics and if your communications with Support have also been "detail - light" then I'm not entirely surprised that you have not received any response; whether Mark is around or not the Support team (however large or small it is) simply won't have the time to try to prise full details from those who contact them. Arlette; you also wrote I only want my own groups back. Perhaps you could confirm whether or not it was you who deleted them. Every deletion from a group carries with it a stark warning that it cannot be undone, and although I have never deleted an entire group, Bruce clearly has (or has investigated doing it) so it should have been unmistakeably clear that completing a deletion had a finality about it. I suspect that you are pursuing a lost cause. Sin in haste; repent at leisure perhaps. Chris |

Thank you Bruce. I don't own the event/group and don't have those permissions. I'll suggest an adjustment to the owner. Perhaps I'll make a feature suggestion to make event reminders a bit more granular, if possible. HNY, Howard
[Mod Note: Event reminders are already quite "granular", and can be set up to occur weeks, days, hours, or minutes prior to the event.] |

Re: Not receiving copies of messages as owner
I do not get the e-mail from one person when he posts to the free Group.
I had the Setting set to get messages from subscribers only. (second one on the list) The person must be a subscriber since he has been a Group member even when it was a Yahoo Group . My not getting his messages via e-mail started several months ago. His messages do appear in the Messages in the proper Topic. I only notice the problem because he has had to be Moderated several times in the past. Can non-subscribers post messages? I did not think so. I have now changed the Setting to get All e-mails. I will not know if that is the solution until the person posts again. I have all notification boxes checked. Thanks, Richard |

I believe the home page editor and the message editor are the same, and you can certainly embed anything you want, using the Source Code mode. The problem is that many HTML constructs are stripped upon save. Examples include javascript, lots of inline CSS, forms and iframes (exhaustive list not available). If I recall correctly, the Google calendar embed code is implemented as an iframe.I just did a quick test.? I was able to use an iframe in the description of the home page by inserting it in the source code view, so the Google code may work.? I was unable to get it to work within a message - it was stripped.? I suspect at least one of the possible reasons is that only the owner/moderator can change the group description, whereas anyone could put the code in a message.
