Only a transfer can change the Sent Date.? Any upload/program will be based on the date/time sent.

Not needed for that.? GIO already has an Export Group Data button on the Settings page where you can select what you want, including everything.

I believe it will eventually allow you to download and archive GIO content, which would allow you to do some super searches. And, if Mark ends up charging all groups a fee in the future you might use the archive to move again.?

mbox upload - dates are missing #mbox #ioimportpl

Dear Lena,

we used your programm to read in the old mails delivered by the download
of the dashboard. The original dates are entered in message source (of
mbox) but are not delivered into the new groups mail archive but as
sent-date you get the upload date (of today, for instances). Now we have
the question if there is any possibility to enter the date of the
original mail into the uploaded old mails?

Many greetings and thank you in advance for any answer
Andrea

The blocker was that groups.io blocked message import from the script after 40

I added a delay 50 seconds between messages to avoid the block. The number 50 can be changed in the beginning of the program.

Just go to your Settings page and select Moderated under Spam Control and click Update Group.? When things cool off, remove the check mark and save the change.? If you've set any members to anything other than Use Group Moderation Setting, it won't effect them.

Actually, you can.? Several people have done it by not furnishing the correct destination group and created a huge mess.? It's just another transfer.

Using smaller screen size iPads in portrait mode

Sandi D.

Sharing this for smaller screen iPad users in portrait mode.?

A few weeks back I discovered the reason I could not access some message composition features is because the second line of formating wasn't displayed when I selected the "hamburger" in Portrait mode.?Turning it to Landscape activated the second line and that line of formatting icons has been retained for all future messages even when I start them in Portrait mode.?

Today I tried to respond privately to a message that a member had sent the group. I clicked on the Private button. It turned gray. The only active button was on the left - "Return to Group". I clicked it and returned to the group. Again tried choosing the Private Button. Again it turned gray and the only active button option returned me to the group . So I turned my iPad to landscape and tried a 3rd time. This time the button on the left "Reply to Sender" was active and I was able to send my reply.

Lesson learned. If something fails in Portrait mode, try doing it in Landscape mode. It will be interesting to see if that active button option of Reply to Sender now "sticks" regardless of mode like the formating icons did.?

Crisis Intervention

Is there any possibility you could put up a MODERATE the group button somewhere to make that action quickly and easily acessible?

I don't think you can merge two YG's into one Groups.io group.

You can create a subgroup for your main group. Transferring that is free with your premium payment for your main group.
Anyone who is a member of the subgroup is also a member of the main group. Not all members of the main group need to be members of the subgroup.

You should think about whether a subgroup is logical for your group. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Why-use-a-Subgroup
and
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Subgroups

Easy to do. If you request a transfer (and you may be lucky with timing), be sure you request the right group to be transferred into your subgroup.

The login is stored as a browser cookie. If you access the site using a different device, you have to log in again.

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Group-Content-Is-Missing

A note comes up that her yahoo email is not registered.? We have tried logging out & back in, changing browsers and other things - but are not successful in getting photo to show up on the smart phone.

Unlikely. Does she have her phone set up to disable/discard cookies?

? ? ?Is there an app for tablets or phones?? We looked in the google app store but did not find Groups.io?
Not yet. Latest post on this subject:?

Thanks Derek. While I am quite comfortable with screen shots and attaching them, I avoided asking her to do that until I knew for sure whether or not, I as Mod, could find that out in the Activity area.

She didn't provide screen shots to me when her problem was first discovered. I wanted to know if there was a way for me to get that information without having to relying on her to provide it.

Turns out that I can identify when a member changes their email address without waiting on screen shots by going to either?Activity area. Both of them have that type of information.?

#Email address of parent when adding subgroup #email

Brady Turner

I'm looking to add a sub-group to an existing Groups.IO site.? If I understand correctly when I add the subgroup, it changes the name of the parent group, for example if the initial parent is [email protected], when I add the subgroup, it will change the parent to [email protected]

My question is will members of the parent group when posting messages need to use the new email address of [email protected], or can they continue to use the original email address of [email protected] (or can they use either)?? I believe from my testing that it's either, but want to confirm with someone else who has done this.

Many thanks,
