Re: Send email to the group, but not post a message

Let me clarify.? I have a bunch of users who will rarely login to the GUI, and they don't want to see all the email from the Topics/Messages.? I need a way to configure these users to not get email for every message, and only get email when a specific hashtag is used.

I could have them subscribe to Special Notice only, but then an owner/moderator has to send the message.

You can do it online - when you reply, click on Private in the bottom right corner.
You can do it by email, replying using the reply to sender in the email footer.
(Note, that some groups have deleted this option.)

I'd check to make sure they didn't notice and submit a new request before changing it though.? I've seen people do that many times, so I just delete the errant address.

You can sort the invites by clicking on the blue header Status.
You can also tidy up the Sent Invitations by deleting accepted invites. Select the checkbox for those accepted and click on Actions, Cancel/Remove Invite.?
Whilst the Sort options are useful it would be use useful to have both Search to find specific entries and Filter options to restrict the list to specific values (eg Not Confirmed) on all the admin lists Members, Pending, Invites

Re: Table of contents in a wiki #wiki

Frances

i created a template page w/a gio script TOC so member could keep adding separate pages to the wiki and we¡¯d keep the wiki to a (more or less) standard format.?

(the main Wiki page is just a growing ToC using links to the individual pages)

Went very easily once I figured out one issue - I had somehow ended up w/the the ToC in a heading format which really screwed up things. If you still have issues I¡¯d be happy to help.?

Hmmm...?

*.co is a top-level domain for Columbia. I wonder if Yahoo has a subsidiary there?? :-)

More seriously, if you have a Premium group, you should be able to edit the email address, add the missing "m", then send it a new confirmation email. Let us know if you need further guidance on how to perform these actions.

Andrew -- That's correct.
I was hoping it would be easy to detect duplicate old messages (by
message-id).

Now that my group has transfered over and I have shutdwon my
YahooGroups list, I would like to get the last month of messages
transfered over.
You can always ask support about this, but I'm not aware of any
way to selectively request the transfer of messages posted over a
specific time period.
I did ask support a week ago and have heard nothing yet.

My current plan is to hope that YahooGroups comes thru and gives
me a download of all of the list messages, carefully look thru them
vs the ones at my groups.io list, make a mbox of all of the new
messages, and send that mbox to support at groups.io to upload to
my list.

Re: Special Notice not working when sent via a hashtag

Hmmm.? I have both 'Special' and 'Moderated' enabled for my hashtag.? Since only Moderators and Owners can send Special Notices, my expectation was that enabling 'Moderated' would send it as a Special Notice after it got approved.? As it stands now, the message gets sent, but not as a Special Notice, even though the hashtag configuration "requires" it.

If I don't have 'Moderated' enabled but I do have 'Special Notice' enabled, an error is thrown when using that hashtag by an unprivileged user (it states that only owners and moderators can send Special Notices).?? Enabling 'Moderated' removes that error.? That made sense because a moderator has to approve.

This seems like a bug to me.?

In Yahoo there are settings for Mod privileges available only to Owners. One is the privilege to make more Mods.
The ability of Mods to make Mods can be turned on or off.

I agree. Why fiddle with this? Have the owner take care of the transfer, inviting the Groups.io transfer to YahooGroups.

At any rate, per 1, 2, and 3 above you can see why we are frustrated.

Judy -- See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Profile-and-Email-Address-and-Merging-Accounts?for details on the process.

When changing email addresses for your account, you first have to log in under the originating address. After a couple of other steps, a notification is sent to the destination address, with a link to confirm the change. Until you click on that link (which also logs you in), the change is not completed.

Having logged in under one address and clicking on a link in the other, you thus confirm that you own both addresses. The only thing recently added is to send a separate notification to the originating address, acknowledging?that someone (presumably you) did click on the email link.

Hope this helps,
Bruce
