Re: Problem with Yahoo Group
Janis,
?
My membership list also works. But it does not show the email address I added via "add only to the email list".?? The invitee's won't become members until they accept the invitation. That's still true when you check that box.
If it did, could use that as an in by owners being able to add and then? promote to moderator. I don't think it matters whether you check that box when inviting the transfer address - it is already connected to a Yahoo account. So go ahead that way, if it works for you.

Re: Bulk folder upload failing - undergoing maintenance
Solved it. It was not a timeout (at least only partially), but a restriction without messaging. The files section restricted photos - they must be uploaded to the photos section.
I did not see the photo restriction error though when trying to push a large number of files (I tried 182, 150, 100 ,75), but once I tried to push a smaller number of files (25), I got the photos section restriction error. Pushing all 182 photos in one batch worked just fine when pushing them to a photo album. My guess is that there is a backend bug or a UI oversight in how the photos section restriction is handled when pushing a large number of files - after a certain quantity, batch size, or _timeout_, the photos restriction error is not displayed in the UI or bubbled up client side. That is why a similar size batch upload worked in another group - the restriction was not in place. Anyways, problem solved, but kinda frustrating. How do I open a bug report or enhancement request? |

If it did, groups.io could use that as an in by owners being able to add and then? promote to moderator. But it is not showing that email address I added. Some one mentioned above nothing happens when they click on conversations, I had to refresh the browser several times between copying the last of my messages from that group.? But I delete the messages as I copy and paste so thought that might be why.? Have not checked my other groups. We no longer use them. |

Aha! That's the problem. She needs to make you a moderator. You are already a member.

Owner Status
I had a group moved from Yahoo quite a while ago & it now appears I have lost owner status.? The last owner type operation I can recall was uploaded a graphic one of my sons did to the group home page.? My plan was to migrate the owner email from my Yahoo account to this accounts but, while this account has moderator access (moderation messages show in the inbox for this account) & the original Yahoo account seems to have no special access.? I am assuming that I made some sort of mistake & simply do not recall it. At this?point I still have the Yahoo account that was the owner of the group prior to the migration (plus the prior owner of the Yahoo group & handed it over on the Yahoo side) which should help verify my identity.? Any suggestions as to how to get ownership again & has anyone heard of a similar issue?? ¡ª Steven Read - ab9ol - Dublin, Indiana (em79jt) |
Re: How do I reply to message in Digest Mode?
Ah! Thank you for clarifying that.
What it's?supposed to do is --Open that new mail window --Create a new mail item --Insert the proper [mygroup]@groups.io address --Insert the proper Subject (same Topic) Move the Insertion Pointer into the body This is done (hover your cursor over the "Reply to Group" link and look at the bottom of the screen) by the URL associated with "Reply to Group", which looks like this: mailto:[email protected]&Subject=MyTopic Your mail isn't quite configured right, so the window opens, but the rest of the info (To, Subject) is not honored. How you do this depends on what application you use for mail. Larry? |
Re: How do I reply to message in Digest Mode?
Ruth D, I'm not sure why Reply to Sender, or Reply to Group doesn't open a reply, but opens a new mail window where I get to see all my mail.? It should open a message composition window in your email interface, with the To and Subject fields filled in. That's basically all it can do given the limitations of a mailto link (which is what those are). If it isn't opening a new message composition, but is just opening your email Inbox, that's something about how your default email is configured on your computer or device. Re: How do I reply to message in Digest Mode?
I'm not sure why Reply to Sender, or Reply to Group doesn't open a reply, but opens a new mail window where I get to see all my mail.? Yes, I can go to groups.io, find the message I want to reply to and type a reply, as I am doing here. Just don't understand why there's a Reply to sender option, if it's not usable.?

Re: Problem with Yahoo Group
Janis,
I believe Yahoo has purposely disabled invites. To prevent transfers?I suspect Hanlon's razor applies here: more blunder than malice. Sometimes the results vary with the browser you're using. When Firefox gets stuck I try Edge, and vice-versa. As a test yesterday I tried to invite another of my email addresses. If you mean the "Add only to mailing list" checkbox on the Invite Members page, I believe that will be the only way going forward. Absent that check, the invitation is designed to guide the invitee to sign in with or create a Yahoo Account - which will no longer serve any purpose in the email-only future of Yahoo Groups. Except for mods/owners, but they'll have to manage some other way (membership wizard?). Got a sorry and an error message.Seeing a lot of that today, much more than usual. Just have to try again. If all we can do is add to the email list and we cannot even see aThe Manage Members list is still working in my Yahoo Groups. Slowly. In between glitches. ... and apparently they cannot email the group!?Posting and receiving by email seems to be working smoothly. Another change--we can no longer post from the yahoo Groups messageWe're not supposed to be able to post from the group's pages since Oct 28th. But I'm still able to do so. Bulk folder upload failing - undergoing maintenance
I am trying to upload a large folder of folders of files (attachments from an old yahoo group). It contains 182 files, mostly pictures.
The upload completes but then the following message is displayed: Groups.io is currently undergoing maintenance. We apologize for the downtime, and expect to be back shortly. The folders have all been transferred but none of the files have been. I don't know if there is actual maintenance taking place as I was able to upload another bulk of 150 attachments to another group at the same time I was attempting to do so with the transfer in question.
Thanks bunches. |
Re: Problem with Yahoo Group
Hi GMF peeps, Power cycling doesn't change it. Gave me a pang, it did.? We've moved our groups, didn't get all the Files moved but got all the archives, and we had copied a lot of Files separately.? But I joined yahoo groups in fall of 2000, and started teaching (in the direct service universe) in yahoo groups, kind of a hotline, soon after that.??? Gesine? |
Re: Problem with Yahoo Group
I believe Yahoo has purposely disabled invites. To prevent transfers?
i had 3 groups, two of which were transferred already and a small group I transferred manually, the n removed all members except me.? As a test yesterday I tried to invite another of my email addresses. Got a sorry and an error message. But I could add myself to the email list.? I thought that would add me to a member list but no such luck!? If it had I could have promoted the other me to moderator.? In past groups at Yahoo, when I added to email list I could see the list.? But that is not happening now. In the email Yahoo Groups sent out to.moderators and group owners a couple of weeks ago.or less, we were told we would still be able to invite members.? If all we can do is add to the email list and we cannot even see a list of members added that leaves owners with no control.over who receives the mail. We can't remove them and apparently they cannot email the group!?? Why even add anyone!! My gut feeling is that they do not plan to restore invites, at least not until Dec 14. Torn up? Not Working? Or intentionally blocking transfers??? This small group will be deleted, just thought I would run a test to see what haplened. Another change--we can no longer post from the yahoo Groups message board. Have not tried an email to see if it shows up on the board. |
Re: Reposting untransferred Yahoo posts to Groups.io?
Butch7999,
I take it that there's no way to accomplish the task in question usingIf you have an such an mbox file (or collection of them) from Y!Group's getmydata function, hold onto it. Or request one well before Yahoo's Dec 14th cutoff. There may in the future be a way to use it to update your Groups.io group's messages, but nothing like that has been announced. I don't think we'll hear much about this until well after the Yahoo furor dies down. One factor may be what to do about messages in the mbox that are already transferred to your group - you may be required to trim those out of the mbox file or risk having them become duplicated in your Groups.io group. For now, an alternative such as putting the messages into a file for members to access may be the best bet. Re: Problem with Yahoo Group
Eric,
The result of trying this is that I have the Yahoo group showing inThe gray link (as opposed to blue) means only that you've visited the Messages page of that group, within the history kept by your browser. In that list, click the Group column heading to sort by group, then see if you have more than one membership in that group, and if so if any have a green (moderator) or blue (owner) crown. If so, click on Manage My Groups tab to see what email address is associated with the membership holding the crown. This list is manually sorted, so you may have to search down the whole list. However, no changes can be made to the record as in attributingNot by you, unless you are an owner, and not from the All My Groups or the Manage my Groups pages. When I try to do anything I am told that I don't have permission to doThat's odd. Normally even members can read the messages. Unless the group owner or moderator has changed the "Who can read" in the Access Control tab of the Control Panel to prevent it. On the other hand, my access to Yahoo Groups is being very sporadic right now, long loading delays and occasional sad-face "Oops! Sorry, an error occurred while loading the content." Page refreshes sometimes help. Technically this is true but how is the group listed as one of mineIf you're already a member of the group with a Yahoo Account that you logged into using a plain profile (no domain) or @ yahoo.com domain then you don't need to start over. If you're logging in with an email address other than @ yahoo.com then log out and get a plain Yahoo account. In this case you may be able to transfer your membership from that other account to your @ yahoo.com one. I'm certain someone has a wiki on this . . . hint, hint.Well, sort-of. But it has been neglected and probably doesn't exactly cover what you need: It is stranger than that. When she tried to make me a member, YahooI'm not sure why that's strange. But then I don't know the history. If the Invite page is telling her that then she should make note of exactly the Yahoo Profile (if any) and Email Address it says is a member. You need to log in using the Yahoo Profile named there, but from the above it sounds like you have.
