Re: Deleting applications to join

If you do nothing Groups.io automatically deletes them after 14 days.

This would make it appear that the ban was carried over. Which is better than getting messages
arguing for reinstatement.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughtful responses. I wanted to be thorough in researching options moving forward, and you've all helped quite a bit!

Re: Personalgroupware (PG Offline)

If you pay $25 for a license to PG Offline, it will remove the limits. I recently downloaded 180,000 messages with no problem.

Re: Deleting applications to join

When you have a member pending approval, your choices are: Approve, Reject, Claim, Send Message, or Ban

If you select Ban, then the person is added to your list of Banned people, removed from your list of Pending Approvals, and they do not receive any message.

Re: Files in transfer are assigned to what members?

Linda,

It isn't clear from your posts as to what is on Yahoo. It could be that there are actually 150 messages that contained eml files within them and another transfer would just do the same thing.

eml files are a format for saving emails to files. You can view eml files with a text editor to see the text in the email. Your description of emails within messages is a legitimate way to send an email within another email message.

You can't set up an alias using an address that has a GIO account.

Re: Current Delay Between Invitation and Transfer Joining ?

Hi Marc,

Based on step #3, as follows:

3. Send an invite from your Yahoo Group to [email protected]

You just need to invite this [email protected] email address from your groups in Yahoogroups. And please wait around 3 days (for my case that happened previously).

When you read another different message, as follows:

We've received the invite to your groups and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.

They received your invitation.

Next steps, need to wait another message, as follows:

We have accepted the invite to your group. (with other long message....)

When you read the above message, you need to change [email protected] email address to become member of moderator inside your groups. You can remove all moderator privileges.

After that, just waiting the transfer process to be started.

Linda -- This is a new one on me. I cannot know for sure, but it sounds like something got out of sync during Yahoo export.

So to correct this, would I have to do the transfer all over again? ?Or is this something that can be fixed internally within groups.io? ?Perhaps I should send an email to support to look into this. ?

Gerald it would be bad for our group but may not be for yours.

We solved the problem by discovering the person was already a member under a different address and telling her she didn¡¯t need to join under the new address.?

If they have a display name, would that show up on a message board post and on an email instead? I am not happy about having someone using this site¡¯s domain as their personal name (). I think it will cause mass confusion among our members.

Re: Help! Never heard back after sending invitation email.

Same here, just need to be patient.

For my case, need to wait around 3 days before it shows different message, as follows:

We've received the invite to your groups and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite.

?

When we read this message, we know, we have some progress.

Now already in stage 3 of 4, looks like will be the longest stage.

We'll see.

Subject: [GMF] Help! Never heard back after sending invitation email.

Hi,

I am trying to move a large (5,000 member), 20 year old neighborhood yahoogroup (adamsmorgan) to groups.io

I believe I followed the instructions...upgraded to premium then began the process.

I invited the required email address to be a member, but never got the ¡°invitation accepted, make it a moderator¡± email. I waited and waited, but heard nothing. I tried again, still nothing.

What can/should I do? Very, very frustrated!

Dave,

If I understand what you are saying correctly, then you do already have another account for the second address. It just so happens you probably haven't logged in through it yet. You can do anything that this account is configured for, just as you can with the other account.
