Someone in my Yahoo group?
What is step 4? I already have a moderator in that group. |

(FWIW that is my own personal preference.) Subscribers who work mainly or exclusively by email (and anecdotal evidence points to this being the widespread preference) won't have sticky topics permanently at the top of their Inboxes; they will either slide into oblivion off the bottom or simply be deleted. I certainly wouldn't argue against the topic being sticky in Messages view, but seriously doubt if it would greatly increase members' awareness of them, unless you have managed to get your members to work mainly or solely from the web UI. In trying to post a message to the group, once the message is sent, nothing happens. There is no bounced message back. There is no acknowledgement on the site. There is no echo of that message to the group. it just disappears as if it had never been sent. I have sent several test messages. They are just gone. I scoured
the various settings, to see if something was turned "OFF", but it
doesn't seem so. A little frustrating! The odd thing, is that the group was all working fine before the auto-transfer from YG. I posted a bunch of test messages, and they were all sent out fine. I'll try adding another member, to see if that wakes up the
software, or see if I can actually do that. * Orest |

Re: message from Owner but with personal name
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFrances, I understand what you are saying. But sometimes owners and moderators want to send a common message which should not appear as sent by this one single person. Therefore I was quite happy to see there is a possiblity to send from the owner-address, and then disappointed to realize it doesn?t work properly. The owner-address doesn?t even show up as sender. Only in the mail it shows. As I understand this issue was brought up before; but I also wouldn?t bring this up again in beta, at least not right now. Mark is too busy getting all these transfers regulated in time. Victoria P.S. Frances, you really did a good deed writing this transfer instruction manual! |

No sign that it was a Group Owner message whatsoever. (FWIW her subscribers will see it as having come from the Group Owner address, but only if they look for it.) ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid you check boxes for things that you never used, like news, for instance? There were really very few things out of the long list you see that I wanted. I noticed I got a separate reply from Yahoo for each box I checked. If I had checked any box where I had no data I would expect to get a reply saying that there was no data to download.Susan B On Oct 26, 2019, at 8:20 AM, Tom H <ve3meo@...> wrote: But when I logged in and got to the download page: Your Yahoo Groups dataYour download request has been completed, but no data of this type is available in your account. ?

Re: message from Owner but with personal name
Just don't send messages from your owner email address! I own quite a few groups. Don't think I have ever sent from there. I have received from there but its about problems or queries about the group, not the topic. |

Although I am not in any sense an "owner" of this group I would say 1000 times NO to it being used as any sort of test - bed for new users of Groups.io.I'm inclined to agree with Chris here. GMF is a technical support forum and we really do need to focus on the needs of group Owners, especially now. That said, I would have no objection to people using my new IHateYahooGroups group as a "playground" if they promise to remain somewhat on-topic with their posts. The whole concept of that group was transitional (and whimsical) from the get-go, and I plan to delete it sometime around the end of the December anyway.? Regards, Bruce |
