Re: Moving to IOGroups

Susan -- 10,000 members is problematical, as has already been stated. This is because you cannot readily download them all using the Y!G web interface. You should, however, be able to access them using one of the tools that Shal has previously mentioned here. Well, kinda. It costs $110 for Premium Yearly. This is necessary if you want the groups.io transfer agent to move your Yahoo group for you, which includes most group content (except for calendar entries and message attachments). If all you're interested in doing is moving your subscribers, and you can get a complete list of them, then $10 is the cost for Premium Monthly. This allows you to Direct Add (shanghai) all those members into your group, without using the invitation system. This is a significant convenience factor. If your group is small (<1GB of storage), and you want to do it all on the cheap, and you have a lot of time on your hands, and you can get a complete list of members somehow, and are willing to transfer all your other content manually -- then you can create a group under the Basic plan, invite the members using the list you downloaded, and upload all the content manually. See also?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19293?for more information on how to do the uploads. Okay, I've done that. But to be a little blunt, I've sent 70 (yes, 70) messages over the past three days, covering virtually every aspect of this process. It strikes me as reasonable that folks coming in late spend just a little time?using the message archive search engine or scanning the GMF wiki. Most of the information is already there, if people would just take a minute to look for it. Hope this helps, Bruce? |

Re: Moving to IOGroups
Thank you. I already started the list and about 65 people have joined. My main deal is transferring people from one list to another before time runs out. If I didn't have 10,000+ members, I would not be as concerned. I have heard $10 and $110. I feel like maybe Bruce or someone should send a repeat message out to go over stuff for new people just joining in. I really appreciate the help. Susan |

Beyond that, you will have to be more specific as to what the problem is, or (preferably) send us a screenshot. Regards, Bruce |

I am not sure that I follow the above.? I want to do one thing.? I want to save 11 years worth of emails from my yahoo group. Will the The Chrome applications that Mark Fletcher wrote do this for me?? What kind of file format will all the emails be in?? I am not interested in down loading a list of members.? I want to down load all the email on the forum. Is this a tool that will do that?? Are other tools available? Thank you, jack |

Based on this banner, you did not send the invitation correctly. I must have had a typo in the email address I used for my invite yesterday, because I just checked, and my transfer setup transfer bar now says Thank you!-- deborah -- Deborah |

Shal has previously mentioned three options in the following post:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19204?. I have used PG Offline successfully in the past, and Robert has given detailed instructions on how to use the Chrome browser add-on in?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19222?. Or can I pay I/O extra money to have them give it another go at getting all my past email? If you've paid the $110 for Premium Yearly, there is no additional cost involved in having the transfer agent make another attempt. You need only delete the completed transfer and start afresh. Be sure to UNcheck the boxes for those content areas that you don't want to retry. Hope this helps, Bruce |

As the banner above states, the Yahoo group invitation should have been sent to [email protected]. If you put in some other email address during the invitation process, that's why the transfer agent hasn't received it yet. At this time you need to return to your Yahoo group and send another invitation. ?
Thank you, Bruce. I'm almost positive I invited [email protected] yesterday, but I just did it again, and YG confirmed the invitation was sent successfully.
?
Earlier today, I invited a friend, just to test the invite process. She got it right away, and when she followed the link, clicked on the purple 'Join this Group' button and then entered the necessary info, I got the YG? new member notification email. So, I'll just sit tight and wait for i.o to respond. Once I see their status banner acknowledge receipt of the invite I'll be able to relax a bit.
?
Many thanks -

Re: Moving to IOGroups
Susan, there has been quite a bit of discussion here about this. (Understatement!)?
See suggestions about the message archives. And also about inviting members using Groups.io? /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Inviting-new-members But I wanted to say that you could put a message on your YahooGroups saying that your site is moving. Put in the new address.? Before you do that, you might want to consider your setup on Groups.io. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |
Re: How To Make i.o. Cover Photo Banner Sized
Hi again,
Using Preview may distort your image. However it may not matter. I just tried with a photo with a group of people and that DOESN'T work well if you try to force it to 900 x 300. Keeping the Scale Proportionally box ticked worked better. ?I got a better photo but not a real banner photo. It is workable though.?
