I may have misunderstood the requirement but as I read it anyone could then gain access to the Group(s) as long as they had access to the club address.

For my money a "registered address" (and thus the log in) should only be applicable to one person, not many.

Sounds extremely dodgy to me...

Re: Login/Email change

I think the easiest thing would be to create an account for the club email address and make it an owner of the group.? Then you could use your email address as normal.? Set the club account to No Email (if that's enabled) or Special Notices so it won't get all the messages.

No what I would like to do is have the club email as the login but use an alias to get help with the account and not have all the info on the club email.

Login/Email change

Hello folks this is Joel K4DKX. I am the President of the Carolina Amateur Radio Club and am putting this group together for internal club business. Right now for testing purposes I have used a personal email to get started. If I change the email that is tagged to this account will it also change the login email? Or is there a way to change the login and email separately? I need to get it moved to the club email for future use.?

Thanks much for the help. 73

Hi Shal,
To me it sounds like a bug worthy of reporting to support.
I've raised this with support (ticket 8252) and will report back with any updates.

How to 'un-ban' a member

Hi,

I am co-owner of a group in which a previous owner has passed on. Before he did, he banned around 20 names from joining the group.

Now we would like to allow one of these to join, and have found the list of those he banned but do not know how to change it.

Any help would be most welcome.

Many thanks
Sylvia

Re: Moderation of messages from non-members

Andy,

However, if a member of one group (main or subgroup) sends (emails) a
message to a subgroup that they are not a member of, the message is
not flagged for moderation and the sender of the message receives no
notification of rejection either. The activity log on the target
subgroup shows that someone tried to send a message but other than
that, you wouldn't know it happened. Does anyone know if this is by
design for some reason?
To me it sounds like a bug worthy of reporting to support. I think all non-subscribers of that subgroup should be treated the same by that setting, regardless of whether they happen to be members of the primary group.

I'm pretty sure I've tested this feature in the past and had primary (but not subgroup) subscriber's messages held pending in the subgroup.

People have asked for a subgroup setting to allow subscribers to the primary group, but not the subgroup, to post the the subgroup without moderation, but as far as I know nothing has been done about that.

Open your record in the group's Member List. You'll find it in the Notifications section, fourth box down.

Re: Charter and groups io

Sugar,

I have a member on 2 of my groups io group that is not receiving e
mail but shows she is ok on the members list.
Click on her row in the Members list to open her subscription page, then click on the Email Delivery History tab.

If that shows Bounces or Unsuccessful attempts have her report that to her email service's tech support to straighten out. If you want report the Reason text here and we'll try to help interpret what it means.

If it shows only Successful Deliveries then the messages are most likely going into her Spam or Trash folder, or is otherwise filtered to not appear in her Inbox. In this case the issue is entirely within her email service, as they accepted the messages from Groups.io.

This could be a Charter issue as I know others who have had trouble
with Charter and has had to change service to get e mail from groups
io.
Three of GMF's five Charter members have both successes and bounces from Charter in the last few days. For those cases the bounces have the reason:

421 impin014.msg.chrl.nc.charter.net cmsmtp ESMTP server not available
AUP#I-1300

"Server not available" sounds to me a lot like a problem internal to Charter.

The other two had a bunch of failures late last year, but those were a different Reason: "452 4.1.1 Too much mail from this address E2210".

So yeah, it looks like Charter is not a reliable email service.

I was just wondering if something has been accomplished with this?
I think these are problems only Charter can fix.

Re: Unmoderate Calendar event reminder emails?

Hi Amy,
I understand why some people want this to be consistent with the group moderation settings. I have contacted Support (Mark) about this issue, and asked if it makes sense to have an option in the settings such that the event reminder emails are not to be moderated if the event is created by a moderator or any member whose posting privilege is set to "not moderated".
Mark replied: "It may make sense, although I'm always concerned with having too many settings. I'll add it for consideration." Hope he'll get around to it soon.

Notification for storage limits

Hi,

can someone remind me where the option is to set a notification when the group storage limits are reached?? I know I've seen it before and even set it to test it but I can't locate it now.? I'm either going blind or it has been removed/relocated.

Thanks
Andy

Moderation of messages from non-members

Hi,

I have a group and several subgroups that are set to moderate messages from non-subscribers.? This seems to work fine at both levels if I send in a message from an email account that I have not registered at all with groups.io.

However,? if a member of one group (main or subgroup) sends (emails) a message to a subgroup that they are not a member of, the message is not flagged for moderation and the sender of the message receives no notification of rejection either.? The activity log on the target subgroup shows that someone tried to send a message but other than that, you wouldn't know it happened.? Does anyone know if this is by design for some reason?

I think it would be helpful (for me at least) to have the message flagged for moderation and then the group setting could be defined as moderate messages from non-members (which would also cover those not registered with groups.io at all).

Andy

Look at the Home button at upper left. If it doesn't display a blue Owner badge, you aren't logged in using the email address that owns this group.

Later has been and gone... As mentioned previously a document sent as an attachment appears as an attachment to the message on the web UI, and is sent out to those subscribers who have emailed deliveries. Its size is added to the Attachments total, but as also mentioned before it cannot be found in the "Emailed Photos" album. If the message with its attachment is deleted, it is also deleted from the storage total. The test was conducted using a 4 MB pdf.

Andy; it wouldn't need to be that big; just large enough to increment a total somewhere. 10 MB should be more than sufficient.

Re: Interesting... or not?

Chris,
I might try uploading a "big" pdf (not here!) to see if it adds to any of the available totals simply out of curiosity
FYI, I have a support ticket open with Mark (8227) regarding the uploading of large files. On frequent occasions when the file size is greater than 400MB the upload appears to complete but the screen that I started the upload from is not refreshed correctly showing the uploaded file. Sometimes I just get a message about Groups.io being down for maintenance (and an option to see some cats!). At other times I just get a blank browser screen and if I refresh it (F5) and confirm a resend where prompted, the upload starts again (according to my network traffic monitor and the status message in the bottom left corner of the Chrome browser window).

Andy
