Re: Topics vs Messages
Topic = Subject around which a discussion ensues and is set by the first message.
Discussion = the series of messages replying to the first or subsequent messages under that Topic. Thread = a series of consecutive replies, e.g., A replies, B replies to A, C replies to B,... Threads can branch, e.g., D also replies to A, A to D, X to D,... Discussions can be presented as threaded (indent for each reply) or flat ( unthreaded). Groups.io is flat. More explanation?. |

I want to transfer a small (20 user) group from Yahoo to Groups.io. I attempted to send a group invitation to [email protected] and received an invalid address error. Are group transfer requests no longer being accepted?

Following up with a "removed" member might be a reasonable course of action on small lists.
Due to some erratic behavior by Yahoo Mail, *some* incoming mails are automatically but inappropriately dumped into users' SPAM folders, thus marking the messages as SPAM even when they are not, even when the user has not so marked them, and doesn't even know about this. I got booted from a IO Group for marking messages as SPAM, though I'd never done so and it came as news to me.? I don't think it's a bug with Yahoo Mail, it seems to be a feature.? If a user deletes an email message without reading it, Yahoo Mail concludes that it was SPAM and so marks some or all additional incoming messages from that source as SPAM.? Even if the source is Yahoo Groups.? At least with my account - and I am betting that's the case with many other Yahoo Mail accounts as well.? -simon |

Hi Robert, I didn't realize that this was a feature of a paid group. I took a paid group for the expanded storage but now have two features that have come in real handy:

about that but am very glad to have this feature, it is really handy.
Oddly, Banned members appear in the Member List but not Past. Paul, Ohio, USA |
Re: Directory
#directory
Is a moderator able to set this for all members of the group so they can all see each other in the directory, or must each individual member make that setting in their Group Profile?

In Chrome, you can right-click on the page and select Save As...
In Edge, I didn't find a Save function - right-click, Select-All, open Notepad, paste, save as members.csv (or whatever name you like with .csv extension) |
Re: Download of member list as admin

At that point, you Save Page (or whatever your browser calls it) and you're done.? Because I own several groups, I rename it to [groupname].csv before saving so I can keep a copy of each one.

Re: Need to be able to customize Invite message.
The Google Groups invitation is a good model:
Short standard sentence invitation Custom paragraph from administrator Group description Boiler plate about Groups Boiler plate about spam, abuse reporting, help... ACCEPT button Opt out of all future invitations from Groups Being Google, I expect the mandatory stuff is in the designated language of the Group. |
Download of member list as admin

Southenders Admin
Perhaps this was questioned before, but searching for download member information, I can't find it.
When I try to download my list of members, a new page opens up on my Chrome browser ending with "memberlist.csv" But nothing downloads. How do I save this as a csv file? -- Norm |
Re: Unusable e-mail address for reply
I think I understand. Since I usually use my e-mail (A ghost of Yahoo) to reply I can just Reply All and if the original
Sender does not get the reply, he will get it on the Group. The worst offender has been combative and refuses to do anything about his address. Perhaps there is no solution but he denies any problem. I put him on Moderate. Thanks, Richard |
