Re: New to the group.

Hi Jill and welcome!

There isn't anything as organized as an "Intro to Groups.io" document, but Groups.io does have a fledgling help system, the link to it is in the bottom bar of all Groups.io pages, the URL for it is:

Unfortunately some of the information there is already out of date, so use with caution. It's a danger with a (relatively) rapidly evolving service. In fact an update to the look-and-feel of many aspects of the site was just pushed this afternoon, so that's even more likely.

You can also find a grab-bag of information in GMF's wiki - it is our goal to be a helpful resource to Groups.io moderators and have information there that supplements what's in the site's Help system. For a link to the Wiki, see the list of group resources in the left column when you're in any group's pages. While you're visiting GMF's pages that list will be GMF's resources. The URL for GMF's wiki is:
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki

Feel free to suggest more Wiki topics, or to write them! Writing a wiki page uses a composition window that's nearly identical to that used when composing a New Topic or Reply on site, so it is pretty easy to do.

One informal convention you might see used when comparing Groups.io features to Yahoo Groups features is to "decorate" a group name to indicate which service. Hence I can say that in GMF@ the list of group resources is on the left, like classic Y!Groups, whereas at Y!GMF they are across a bar near the top, the "Neo" style.
