Somewhere in the pre-creation documentation should be a clear list of the limitations of the free groups.

In addition to Frances' comments, if you can provide documentation that your
group is indeed a non-profit, or associated with Indivisible, you get a
discount:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If you are legally recognized as a non-profit organization, we offer a 50%
discount on our Enterprise plan. When upgrading your group, select the
non-profit discount. Also, please contact us so we can verify your non-profit
status.

"Is your group associated with Indivisible? Please contact support, and we will
upgrade your group to Premium for free."

I don't know if this will make any difference, but I thought it was worth
mentioning.

You can look into paying for web hosting and set up a bulletin board type of
website using their free software usually offered with web hosting. Some web
hosting sites have a free plan. Most aren't expensive if your needs are simple.
There is a learning curve on learning how to build a bulletin board, or even a
Wordpress site, but I was able to put up a bulletin board after some
experimentation over a few day's worth of testing.

I'm sure there are other alternatives, but I don't feel this is the place to
discuss all of the alternatives since this group is about running a group here
on groups.io.
