Hello -?
We are currently on the Premium Yearly plan.
We are also preparing to publish some premium video content that we want to make only available to users in specific subgroups. These videos will be hosted on a premium Vimeo account.
Currently, because Groups.IO does not permit video embedding, the best setup we've been able to think of is to password protect the videos and then post the link and password for each video in the respective Groups.IO subgroup. This way, only members of the subgroup would be able to access the video link and password. Only problem... There is nothing stopping someone from getting this link and password information and sharing it outside the subgroup. Of course, we could just keep changing the passwords in a game of cat and mouse, but this is clumsy. On the other hand, if we could embed a video itself into a Topic or Wiki page in the subgroup, then this issue would be completely solved in one go.
I realize Groups.IO blocks video content for a reason: the potential for malicious misuse. But embedding a video into a Topic or Wiki page would not otherwise burden the Groups.IO infrastructure since the video is hosted elsewhere.
Is there any possibility we could request and get a special exemption to embed specific, pre-vetted videos hosted on Vimeo into specific pages of a subgroup? Or are there any other good workarounds that other groups have found for this?
