Ellen,
I would like the user to use groups.io which I have been promoting toWith Groups.io as it stands I think Erikag59 is right: you can only enforce web posting by moderation. You can tell if a message in Pending or in the archive was posted by web or email: use View Source and look for a line in the header that says: User-Agent: GROUPS.IO Web Poster If that is not present then the posting was by email. You aren't alone in wanting to restrict a group to web posting, a handful of people have suggested in the beta group that Groups.io should offer that ability. Surprisingly (to me) the founder of the original GMF on YahooGroups wanted Yahoo to give him that ability. Back then the concern was that viruses and spammers were spoofing member addresses and getting their junk posted into his groups. That concern is a factor in the origin of GMF's 100% moderation policy (both GMFs, this one and the one on Yahoo Groups). A decade or more ago Email authentication techniques implemented at Yahoo Groups squashed almost all of the kinds of spoofing that had been causing that problem.. All that said, you are definitely swimming upstream in that desire. The founder describes Groups.io as "an email groups service". So I think it is unlikely that a web-only capability will ever be implemented. /static/why Shal -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
