Adding back a Removed for spam member

John Pearce

Today a member with a yahoo ID was removed for marking a message as spam.? I didn't know him but figured this might have been a yahoo problem because he gets full featured digests and has been a member since 2005.? I sent him an email from my gmail account explaining what we saw as moderators and that if this was another yahoo problem he was also sent an email helping him reinstate himself.? He responded that he didn't do it and wanted to stay, and there were no emails with instructions to reinstate, not even in his spam folder.? So I direct added him.? All is fine except that the member list does not show him as having been a member since 2005.? Not that anyone cares mostly but... it does help moderators to determine if a removal was valid or a yahoo issue.? If it's a long time member it's likely an issue and we can go through the effort to notify outside groups.io and resolve things like this.? I couldn't find a way to reinstate him myself.? Is there a way?? Could a person like that login to their account on groups.io and have a reinstate button or something?? There wasn't anything on my owner account that would allow me to do anything but direct add that I found.? I would think that it is a regular occurrence that when someone is removed for spam the backout emails would never get there.? It seems the backout emails are a nice try but basically useless.
