Re: Can I transfer messages, photos, & files from a Yahoo group without transferring the member list?

Dotty,

Does the transfer process utilize the member's email address
designated to receive Yahoo group messages, or the Yahoo login email
(or ID/profile) which is required to login to Yahoo?
It uses the email one (in the Email column of the Manage Members list of the Yahoo group).

... I receive my various group messages at either my Windstream or
Gmail addresses.
If those various groups each transfer to Groups.io, you'll end up with more than one Account at Groups.io - one for each email address. Unlike Yahoo, Groups.io does not (yet) support managing multiple subscription addresses within a single account.

I think that can be rectified after the fact by asking [email protected] to merge the accounts. But then you would end up with all the messages going to that one address, which you might not want.

... there shouldn't be a problem with most of them being able to
complete the Groups.io login process. For those few who might not be
able to do that, will there be a problem with my issuing a new
invitation to join after the group list is transferred?
If they're ok using the address that transferred you don't need to. As a result of the transfer they have been added to your group's Members list - they can receive and send group messages by email. They would only need to log in if they needed to access their account information or your group's members-only content.

If they want to change their email address, but can't log in to achieve that, then there's no problem with you sending them an invitation at their desired address.

Could I then delete their old membership from the transferred list?
I understand that it would mean they can't edit old postings, but
that shouldn't be an issue with our group.
That's the only downside I know of, and if for some reason they can't log in using that address then they're stuck with that downside anyway. So you might as well delete the address they won't be using.

Thanks for your help, and that of other members!
You're most welcome.
