However, I would ask you consider that a
small number of hashtags
for use by moderators only can be useful. One obvious possibility is #Group_Management that can be used to advise members about "management matters"; others are (for example) #Photos & #Files for use when it is desirable to advise members about (say) a reorganisation of those sections. #Group_Management has the advantage that it can be used for a range of individual details rather than having a list of hashtags for each individual detail.
Use by Mods Only is a setting "within" the hashtag that can be checked when the hashtag is created.
As Duane said their use makes finding them at a later date much easier; without them it might be nearly impossible, or at least very time consuming.?
Another downside is that hashtags in email subject lines don't actually stand out all that well in comparison to their appearance on the web UI.
I would definitely agree that allowing members free rein to create hashtags can create a situation that is #Ridiculous.
