Thank you very much, Shal.? Now I can relax.

That visibility button is very important.? Given all the other buttons we select saying things are only for subscribers, I suggest that the visibility button be given more "visibility", for lack of a better term, and explanation.??

The warning about not being able to change archive visibility from private back to public made me hesitate to choose the private option.? Then I assumed with all the "subscriber only" options and overall private membership status of our group, that everything would be private to some degree.? That was my mistake for sure, but I think more emphasis on the importance of that visibility choice would be helpful.

They are all now private, as far as Groups.io is concerned.

However, during the time that they were public the web search engines
(Google's not the only one) may have cached the message content in order
to speed up searches.

There is no way that I know of to remove that cached content from the
search engines, but most of them will purge it eventually, as they
discover that it is no longer available from the original page.
