Loopy,
It was all fine until about 4 or 5 days ago and once again thisAs Bruce cited, a few weeks ago Gmail made a change, which caused a warning to be displayed if you receive your own message back from Groups.io. To avoid that warning Groups.io made a change to how the "From" field is written when sent back to you (but not to other members of the group). That's what you're seeing. I don't like it either. I was happy with my messages showing up in Gmail as From "me", now they're From someone named "Shal Farley via Groups.io". Aside from being ugly, this new method confuses my email client (Thunderbird) because the From no longer matches any account I actually have. PITA I hope someone can help because I don't like that being added. Not in the foreseeable future. There is a technique Groups.io can try (ARC signing the messages), but it is a lot of work for Mark and not guaranteed to succeed. Or Gmail could roll back that change, but that is even less likely, Mark has talked with an engineer there and he says the trend is towards tightening the rules, not relaxing them. Gmail's intent is to ensure that you, as a recipient of a message, can tell when the message was sent directly from someone's email account versus when it was sent "via" some third-party service (a list) like Groups.io. Other people in the group use gmail without this issue. For now, you see other member's addresses without that change, and they see yours without it. And every Gmail user sees their own with it. But if Gmail tightens this up further Groups.io may be forced to re-write more user's From addresses.
