To make our time on the list more useful, and to stop people really
enjoying themselves, it would help if the following rules were noted.
Oh, to heck with it, this is FLUTENET.

I have received posts telling me that someone is sending people mail
complaining that those people are sending post which is not connected
with flutes and flute playing. It seems that this complaining post
is coming from someone who has not introduced themself to the group
and who has not posted anything to us. They also have obviously not
read the "Rules and Guidance" document which everyone gets when they
join up with us.
Let me restate the position reference posting:-
**ALL** subjects [not just flute related stuff] are open for
discussion, but posters should stay within the realms of decency,
courtesy and also show respect for the views of other people.
This list is run as a flute players club NOT as a one subject only
list. If that is what you want then may we suggest you go and join
the self styled "benevolent dictator" on a competing list.
This list has been running under these rules for the last 18 months.
In that time we have discussed a myriad subjects, learned a lot and
had many a laugh as we did so.
Because of the conversational style of the list we also get to know
people as individuals not disembodied entities posting and answering questions.
In the past people have disagreed fairly strongly on some subjects
but we have NEVER had a flame war and for an open ended list that is
some acheivement. The list will continue to run as it always has done and
POSTS ON ANY SUBJECT ARE WELCOME.
