Brain tumor re-growth

Meredith W.

My step-dad's brain tumor has grown back according to the MRI, we have
been at the BP for a little over 2 mos. This is so discouraging. They said he has about 3+ mos to live and they wont be good ones with no radiation or chemo. Ya know the brain is very different from other organs and in many ways not as forgiving as it is teh central computer for the whole body. When their is regrowth or swelling it can kill. So we are trying to figure out whats best. We know radiation only delays and seals the deal in most cases, so we want to keep going with BP but there is so little time for it to work. He had a full resection - has anyone here started BP with a full resection of their tumor - had re-growth and then tumor shrinkage? Its one thing to see swelling but this is growth where their seemed to be nothing before?
Any thoughts?

Thanks! Meredith

Meredith,
I am sorry that the news from the new MRI is not better. Recalling the
reports and doctors' comments from my sister's GBM journey, a few
things come to mind.
First, we know little more than your S/Dad had surgery in June for GBM
where they were able to resect the tumor. I also recall that he had
a "chemo wafer" in the tumor site.
More specifics may be helpful as well, but also perhaps writing out his
daily foods/ intake and activities may help some "good eyes" in the
group find things which might be helpful concerning the protocol.
I do remember at least twice I came across patients whose journey was
similar and showed a regrowth (or questionable area), which when
additional surgery was done, it turned out to be necrotic tissue... so
what seems bad now, is not without the chance of error. One was Tom,
Another long term survivor who had a
regrowth is David M. Bailey. I think I could actually come up with one
or two more as well.
A quote I have had to remind myself of at times, which a vet told me
once, "Where the is life, there is hope." Often when things look bleak,
better things are just around the corner. It has been that way with
several on this list... For you and your S/Dad, don't give up hope and
don't resign yourself to believing the doctor's prognosis. Someone has
to "scue" (not sure if that is spelled right)the odds! Who better than
your S Dad?
I am not sure I would give much credit to the doctor's comment about
the chemo and radiation... My sister did agressive treatment with chemo
and radiation til the cancer took her ability to swallow... I know the
quality of her life suffered because of the side effects of the chemo
and radiation. This comment is to neither discourage or encourage, just
hopefully any decision is well thought out and researched and not made
out of fear. There have been some good posts lately adressing that very
thing. People in general, make poor decisions when they make them out
of fear.
Your post regarding the upcoming MRI spoke of him still working at
overcoming the effects of the last surgery, but overall feeling well.
His feeling okay is encouraging, even though I know you would love more.
I pray that some doors will open soon that will be real encouraging for
your family. Also, I pray for your S Dad's healing and that you each
feel God's loving arms supporting each of you as you search for more
help.
Your family will be in my prayers tonight.
Martha

Thanks you so much Martha for taking the time to write so
thoughtfully! I do not feel chemo or radiation will give him better
quality of life either as they claim and might make his suffering
longer. He is a Christian and is very at peace with his situation. I
am one too but I dont have that - he feels God has really given him a
gift of peace- he is very okay about it all! Although he doesnt KNOW
in his heart one way or another what will happen to him. Soemtimes I
feel like I am deluding myself that this could happen for us but other
times I feel like this WILL happen. He and we so want to be right and
show the drs. a thing or two like many of you are and also to be a
blessing to help others facing this same situation.

I had the same thought today - that "tumor" could be something else. I
doubt its necrotic b/c he has had no radiation only the glaidel wafers
in his brain....

His diet is basically all out of the Oil-Protein cook book. Sauerkraut
juice in the AM along with Essiac tea, Quark the recommended number of
times a day, in a variety of ways, berries - especially raspeberries
and blueberries....raw veggies for lunch snack, outside for an hour or
so of sun....champagne with flax in teh afternoon....dinner - groats,
veggie broth lightly cooked veggies or quinoa and beans and veggies
and lots of Oleolux on everything,,,we put raw manchego cheese on hot
meals and for a snack...saurkraut for meals/snacks...lots of raw
veggie juiicng, mango/papya occasionally....

He does snort curcumin and feverfew dissolved in coconut oil up his
nose and he is going to start a homeopathic called ruta 6C and Cal
Phos which is known to work on Brain cancers...he takes melatonin at
night - I'll have to check with my mom for the rest. he did take
supplemnets and Im not sure if he is off those or not......he takes
prozac and an anti-seizure med that we cant take him off....steroids
are next if this keeps growing....which are very bad and protect
cancer cells.....
He also uses an elctromedicine device similar to a Vibe machine.....

Thanks! Meredith

O yes and he naps daily but usually gets to walk around the block a few
times and goes out to see friends at church or parties.....he is still
highly social and depsite not speaking well still tries to talk to
everyone - his mood is excellnet its really unbeliveable to me.....

Hi Meridith,

this is my first post here but I have been reading posts for some time.
Just a word about homeopathy: its much better to go to a classical
homeopath who can take up to several hours to work out a single remedy
rather than taking several different remedies in a "suck it and see"
way. Any homeopathic remedy can help a person to cure their cancer, as
long as it is prescribed for the individual. My mother is on fo/cc and
Homeopathy and very slowly improving after 10 weeks despite being given
2-4 weeks to live. She has small-cell lung cancer with a secondary
behind one eye (not in the brain). Good luck and keep your spirits up.

Meredith: My nephew was a doctor, he had brain cancer. He opted for
radiation and chemo, at the end his brain was destroyed, cooked, so he
only had mush. That was the description the medical team told my sister
and they told her not to worry because he was no feeling any pain. I
know that for brain swelling Dr Jacob has used DMSO and has saved
patients with that procedure. He is retired now but has trained other Dr
on how to use his procedure. If you are interested, call Jacob Lab at
1-866-375-2262. Also leatrile or Vitamin B 17 may help, their protocol
is fresh veggies and juices, My best wishes to you and step dad. Ursula
