Re: Discover card message when posting

Wilhelm Hansen

In that case I don't know what triggers these automated responses from Discover Card. I get them all the time when I email to this group. Since we have had a number of complaints about it a few weeks ago, I thought that everyone is getting them.

Are you posting from the Yahoo site or are you emailing your posts?

Carolyn,
I believe everyone gets them. Just delete them. They seem to be a
harmless glitch in the system somewhere. I emailed Yahoo bout it. Hopefully
they will get rid of it.

Carolyn,
if the whey is from organic dairy, I drink it - if not I discard it. Whey has good nutrients in it. A lot of the minerals are in the whey.

Wilhelm

Question: What do I do with the whey? Put it down the drain or use it?

Thanks,
Carolyn

Why do I get this Discover Card message every time that I post of

Barb,
Almonds are good for you any way you eat them. They are hugely better for you raw. What they lose when they are cooked are their enzymes: life force.

Re: Digest Almonds

MHW

Hi,
Yesterday I bought a lb. and a half of natural almonds and put them in my Vita-Mix and made almond butter. Read here where people are pealing the almonds. Is it better to get rid of the outer peal? It sure would have made it easier to make the almond butter, the machine wouldn't have to work as hard.

un-sweet fso/cc

Kathryn Gold

Hi Barb,

I also get burnt out on having my fso/cc sweet. So I make it into a yummy
dip.

I use my regular measurement of fso/cc (1/4 c fso to 1/2 c CC)
Then I add a pinch of dill weed, one or two cloves of garlic, salt and
pepper,
a dash or cayenne pepper, and fill the rest of the one-pint-jar with half
lemon juice
and half water.
I use an Oster blender for this, using the blade assembly on the Kerr
pint-sized
jar. Blend it all up well. This is a good dip for raw veggies, or, if
thinned further
with either water or more lemon juice, it is a good salad dressing.
Sometimes I
just eat it with a spoon as is without any veggies or salad.

Last week I made a 'tuna smoothie' for my husband. Someone on this list
said
at one time that they use tuna for their fso/cc. So I took half a can of
tuna with
the regular amount of fso/cc, added a clove of garlic, some dill, salt and
pepper,
then filled the jar with water. It was really quite tasty, and definitely
NOT sweet.
It is a good break from all the sweetness.

RRe: Recipe for organic cottage cheese

Devingel

Hi Carolyn,

No, buttermilk will not give you good cheese - this only works with milk. Yes, boiling (at least heating ) is neccessary for the process to go through. Otherwise the cheese will not be formed. You can try adding the lemon as the milk is heated and watching to see when it becomes cheese but my experience is that the clear liquid left behind will not be clear enough unless it has been boiled to extract the full contents of cottage cheese out of it.

OK, I am now to the point of thinking about making my own cottage
cheese
or quark. I am tired of the high salt content of store-bought cottage
cheese. I have a few questions: Is boiling the milk necessary? Does it
lose nutrients when it is boiled? If we use organic buttermilk and
follow the recipe in the archives, is the buttermilk still good to use
if it has been pasteurized?

Thanks,
Carolyn

What about adding organic maple syrup or organic honey to sweeten.

Why not mix it in a smoothie?

Here is what I do - make the yogurt/fo.

Make a smoothie - I use one banana, 5 large strawberries, and about
3oz of grape juice, and ice. Then add the yogurt/fo. You cannot even
taste the fo.

Good luck.

I have bought some carob powder and like that
somewhat. It has a naturally light sweet taste
and similar to chocolate and blends easier than
cocoa powder but it is still sweet even though
not from sugar.

flaxseed research

Carolyn J. Kreibich

For all of you who are wondering about the research on the value of
flaxseeds, to go

annieappleseedproject.org

In the left margin, scroll down to "search". Click on that.
In the search box, type "flaxseed".
That will take you to some good information about the value of flaxseed.

Recipe for quark

Carolyn J. Kreibich

I made recipe 1 for quark from our (flaxseedoil2) 'files' section. It
was very easy to make!

The recipe calls for an oven temperature of 150. My oven only goes down
to 170. Does that make a difference?

I used the organic buttermilk. What does the word 'cultured' mean?

Carolyn, Its been 12 months since I have surfed this
most informative website, I must see whats new. I also
seem to remember that there was an article on the
importance of the circadian rythm (our natural body
cycle that is interconnected with nature) and the
application of chemotherapy. It was suggested that
chemotherapy, where absolutely necessary, should be
given when the body's cycle i.e when DNA is at its
most active or less active will make it more
effective. I wonder if one could apply this
information to eating FO/CC at that particular time of
day when the cells are at their optimum in absorbing
this food? Love Anna
