Re: VERY indelicate bowel question ...

Hey Melissa,

While I'm no expert, I just want to share something that may be a
simple answer.

Bleeding -- Hemorrhoids can ooze fresh red blood, whether located
externally or internally. External hemorrhoids often cause dripping of
blood from the anus while sitting on the toilet. The blood might also
be seen as soiling of the underwear. Internal hemorrhoids that bleed
may produce fresh blood in the stool.

Here is another point:

"Rectal bleeding (known medically as hematochezia) refers to passage of
bright red blood from the anus, often mixed with stool and/or blood
clots. Most rectal bleeding comes from the colon, rectum, or anus. The
color of the blood during rectal bleeding often depends on the location
of the bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. Generally, the closer
the bleeding site is to the anus, the blood will be a brighter red.
Thus, bleeding from the anus, rectum, and the sigmoid colon tend to be
bright red, whereas bleeding from the transverse colon and the right
colon (transverse and right colon are several feet away from the anus)
tend to be dark red or maroon colored."

Hope this helps,
Janice

"Sorry to be so indelicate here, but I'm wondering if tumor shedding
can be evidenced by bloody show in the poop? This morning, there was
no blood when I wiped, but when I glanced in while flushing, there
was some red, swirly stuff coming off the outer edges of my poop. I
have had no symptoms of tumor shedding or healing crisis or anything
in the three months I've been doing this. Is this something to be
concerned about or is this a possible good sign? ;) Keep in mind,
my mets are on my large/small intestines (initial one in large
intestine wall) and peritoneum."
