Electoral reform in Canada is long overdue

Do I support it? Heck, yeah! Thanks so much, Council of Canadians, for sending this out and helping raise awareness of this essential issue. I really appreciate it.

Dear Vivian,

When the federal Liberals ran for office in 2015, they promised electoral reform by the next election. Now, six years later, we¡¯ll be heading to the polls to vote in an unchanged first-past-the-post electoral system.

This system distorts Canadians¡¯ electoral preferences, fails to reflect who we really are, and creates voter apathy in the process. First-past-the-post elections regularly produce majority governments that most voters do not support.

In the next few weeks, candidates will be looking to secure your vote, and we encourage you to ask them this one simple question about how they will make our elections more democratic:

Will you support a National Citizens¡¯ Assembly on electoral reform before the next election?

as well as other big questions for candidates in this upcoming election. These questions are also assembled that you can print and keep by your door so you can have it handy when candidates come knocking. Learn more about the movement for electoral reform at .
Sincerely yours for fairer elections,
