Re: Can your group do the holiday cards to Trudeau action? :)

Are these supposed to be the actual cards we sent, Anita, or just any Christmas cards?

I’d have to go looking in the archives to try to find which one I chose - there were several good ones, as I recall.

Hey New Brunswick team :)

Would you be able to help us out with the federal campaign by doing the holiday cards to Trudeau thing? Basically it involves:

a) Pick a Zoom date for a 15 minutes meeting - before December 12
b) Find any holiday card you have at home
c) I'll send out an email to all of NB inviting people to help by grabbing a card and joining the Zoom meeting
d) Take some screenshots of all of you holding?up cards to Trudeau on the Zoom meeting
e) Send me the best picture of the group!
f) On December 12 FVC is going to be sharing pictures from groups across Canada doing this to promote our holiday card action! ("Citizens from New Brunswick join thousands across Canada sending holiday cards to Justin Trudeau calling for a National Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform!?@JustinTrudeau?#MakeYourVoiceHeard #cdnpoli #ERRE). Anita Nickerson

They can be any card you have in the cupboard! At some point, just put Trudeau's address on it and drop it in the mailbox, no postage required.

If anyone is feeling creative and wants to make something custom calling for a CA and take pictures of it, or print out one of the designs we're using for the ones ordered online below, that's great. If you want to read a poem, sing a carol or do anything else you can take a picture or short video of, also great!

But to make it easy for anyone to participate in these Zoom meetings with very little effort, any card is what we're asking for!?

The point is just to show on Dec 12 that Trudeau is getting lots of cards from real individuals and groups of people across Canada!?

Happy to help you in any way I can. If you already have a next meeting date for your group we can do the card action on say 20 minutes before your meeting starts for example (if it's at 2, have card people show up at 1:45 and be gone before 2 PM).?

Great! So pick a day and time - Thursday evening or Friday evening. At this late stage, I'd suggest John just pick whichever one he can show up for because we're out of time for doodle polls.?

Feel free to invite family and pets (seriously - Gisela has given us some nice pictures with dogs).?

Halifax Rick invited his family so there would be enough people for a photo - whatever works!?

What we're doing is putting human faces of people who want a Citizens'?Assembly on Electoral?Reform on the 8300 cards that are going to Trudeau already.?

On December 12 we'll be sharing all the pictures on social media (facebook, twitter and Instagram) at this hashtag #MakeYourVoiceHeard.

Jenice Atwin has made a short video saying "yay" (basically) we will share, and I am awaiting similar videos promised by Nathaniel and Daniel (fingers crossed!)

We're also doing this in parallel with our UK counterparts - Make Votes Matter - same hashtag that day - so the idea is to get that hashtag busy!

As soon as I get a date and time I'll set it your meeting and we can all share the link with whoever might be persuaded to come!?

You can bring a regular holiday card or print off a picture of the one you ordered online or make something - it doesn't matter. (If you get really creative as a few people have, we'll share a close up of your card, too! :)

Thanks again, everyone!

Hi again, folks. ?Anita Nickerson has kindly agreed to set me up to host a New Brunswick meeting of folks wanting to send a Christmas card to Santa Justin expressing our wish to receive a PR electoral system from the Jolly Old Elf this Christmas.

These are the details:

The meeting is expected to last only about ten minutes, perhaps less.

You can join at the last minute, if you wish. ?The more the merrier. ?Your family, friends, pets, etc. are all welcome!

Send out invitations/reminders to friends, everyone.?

My mass emails to the list DO NOT WORK for stuff like this. (They're good for other things, but not this kind of thing).?

With rare exception, the only way people show up for something like this photo is when somebody they know personally asks them. So if you know anybody, do ask and/or remind them :). If not, your smiling faces are enough!

For those of you not on the chapters list, here are the for Saturday! I'll send out something about Saturday later.

Thanks so much again for adding support for electoral reform from New Brunswick!

Hi, folks.

Me again, just writing to remind you to join this short session a little before 8:00 p.m. ?tonight - that’s about 15 minutes from now.

Don’t forget to have your Christmas Card to Justin Trudeau to hold up beside your smiling face!

The safest way to join the group is to click on the link in your latest email from Anita.

Attached is a copy of my selfie which I’ll endeavour to replicate for our collage.

Hope to see you online shortly before 8:00.

My first NB report in a while

Hi everyone,

Back when I was on the board of Fair Vote Canada, I would write reports on electoral reform in NB. Now that I have something to report, I thought I'd resurrect?that tradition.

Report attached in PDF format.?

The abstract, or TL;DR if you're a Millennial:
The NB Liberal Association just elected a new executive committee. The new VP of Policy is Robert Kitchen. I found him to be responsive to members and open to the idea of electoral reform, as well as being well-informed on the subject.
