Re: Dalton 6, B-4 lot 5?
Thanks for the replies Dennis! You're machines are quite nice to look at. I wish mine looked like that. I thought it might take awhile to get it turning but it looks like I just need to mount the

There are 15 change gears. two 24 tooth 30 32 36 40 42 44 46 48 52 56 60 72 and 96. The 96 is not used with any threading, rather it is used for slow feed. You compound the 72 and 24 on the gear

Re: Dalton 6, B-4 lot 5?
Yes I have some change gears. Haven't gotten that far yet though. It came with a newer electric motor and a variable switch for speed. Someone made a V pulley for it to accept standard belts. So the

Re: Dalton 6, B-4 lot 5?
Yip a Lot 5. Look good and I see you have a chip tray and legs. Looks quite complete. Did you get any change gears with the lathe? What kind if any drive did you get with the lathe? This is my Lot 5

Hey y'all, New guy here. New to this place & new to machining. (That's not entirely true, I have monkeyed with lots of equipment over the years), but I've never owned anything until now. So I picked

Re: Collets
Hi Terry Yes the Daltons Lot 2 3 4 and 5 use the 3C collet. The Lot 6 and Dalton 9 can also use the 3C but also use the 4C with the proper nose tooling and adaptor for the draw tube. Dennis.

The Lot 5 also came with the thread protector that I'm assuming is an original dalton.

Re: Dalton Lot 5 # 392
Interesting Rick never thought of that. That's kind of a first for these old lathes. If I remember correctly the 9L and 10 inch uses 15 change gears like the Dalton. Dennis [email protected]> wrote:

Re: Dalton Lot 5 # 392
The lever is for change gears. I think there's only seven change gears needed along with the 3 positions with the lever. I'll have to look at the threading chart and count how many gears there are.

Re: Dalton Lot 5 # 392
Yes I can see that's not a Champion overhead drive. Also Rick what does the lever on the front of the head stock do. My 10 inch does not have this feature. I always figured it was something to do with
