Re: (unknown)

On the Launcher's Config window, try a different distribution site. Does
this enable you to download Pathfinder 4.5.7?

Works every time.

Re: DOK references

I have here a printed DOK list from DARC Verlag dated 22.7.1991

It shows IBO78 till IBO99
same for IR83 till IR99
UKW88 till UKW99
VHV86 till VHV99
CM80 till CM99 (and I know there are more after this one)
now many with start 25, 40 or 50 and the original DOK behind that number.
But I suggest if you work one of these (now CM2008 or IFA09, currently active) just add them, they are shorttime and will not be reactivated after the year is over or the activity period is past.
This counts every year anew, and that's why the SonderDOK count now is higher than the original DOK count

Subject: [dxlab] CW Character Spacing

Hello--I am new to the group. I am using WinWarbler ver 4.5.0 and have been very pleased with it. I have one problem that I am trying to solve though. When operating CW someties characters get run together with no spacing. For instance, AN would be transmitted as a P.The transmit window indicates AN but P is actually sent (AN with no character spacing). This does not happen all of the time but ofen enough that I don't trust it. I have tried varying the character spacing value and other parameters on the cw setup but it still happens.I would appreciate ieas on a solution. My CW setup is configured as so: Keyboard Mode(auto stop, auto start, character) and Weight(Dot/dash 1:3,element space 1, character space 3, word space 3)
Thanks--Chuck K4PBY

Folks,

I enter a new call in the capture window when a previous call and data
are already in the window. When I TAB or ENTER all the information is
updated with the new call data except the name and QTH. These values
stay at the previous state. Is there a reason for this? I see that
pressing SHIFT will clear the data first and then only new data is
there. I guess I would have expected that would be the default behavior.
I can remember to keep shift pressed to have it work the way I expected
(after reading the Wiki). Maybe I am more wondering why it works the way
it does?

So that if you record information received over the air before you invoke
the lookup operation, the lookup operation doesn't overwrite what you've
already recorded.

Hi Buzz

First, back up your log.

Then filter your log for the QSOs you want to delete.

Did you backup your log?

Then press Control plus the Delete button on DXK main page.

BTW Did you backup your log first?

Thanks very much for your reply and yes I am runing a bit light computer wise. I think I will try the WinKeyer approach--I have built some of K1EL's other kits in the past. BTW,I am new to operating the digital modes and found your WinWarbler software to be the one I liked best after playing with a few others. Nice work! 73--Chuck

Hi Dave---It is configured Parallel Port (LPT3 Data 5 pin 7)

With that setting, Windows is generating the CW timing. Unfortunately,
Windows is not a real-time operating system, so even though WinWarbler runs
its CW-generation at the highest possible priority, simply moving your mouse
while transmitting CW can yield erratic timing. If you have other
applications simultaneously running, or if your PC is light on horsepower
and/or RAM, these factors can contribute to the problem. Minimizing the load
on your CPU and RAM while working CW is the least expensive approach.
Another approach is to acquire a WinKey -- a small hardware device that
accepts characters from WinWarbler and does the CW generation. You can build
a WinKey serial port kit for as little as $36 (see
<>) or you can purchase a fancier USB
kit for about double that price (see <>).
Several commercial products also incorporate WinKey circuits, e.g.
MicroHam's product line (see
<>). WinWarbler can also use a
KAM, PSK232, or MFJ HF modem as a CW generator; these are often
inexpensively available via flea markets or EBay (e.g. see
<
QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19b622795e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m

Re: DX Keeper Config. Application Pages

Hi Mike,

I take it from your description that you are using WinWarlber to generate CW rather than an external keyer such as the WinKey. Unfortunately, code generated by WinWarblerr is subject to CPU load and your computer's ability to handle it without encountering any processing delays. It sounds like your Laptop isn't quite up to the task and occasionally experiences a load that causes slight delays.

I highly recommend the WinKey (www.k1el.com). This is supported by WinWarbler and generates it's own CW from the ASCII characters. Thus, it does not depend on your computers CPU to generate properly spaced dits and dahs. It's a relatively inexpensive kit that goes together in a couple of hours. The USB version has a built in USB to serial port converter and comes with the USB driver on CD that works with any version of Windows including the soon to be released Windows 7. From the day you plug that in and start using it, your CW will be squeaky clean no matter which computer is feeding it and no matter if you are using macros, keyboard or paddles.

Re: DX Keeper Config. Application Pages

To recover your wayward Configuration window, see

<>

Uninstalling and re-installing a DXLab application almost never resolves the underlying problem, but can destroy useful evidence and risks confusing Windows.

Re: Erratic function of Commander 5.8.7

I agree with Rich that you should upgrade to the latest release of Commander, but I doubt it will resolve the problem. You report that Commander was successfully controlling your transceiver, but that over time its ability to control your transceiver degraded. This in combination to the details you cite below points to change in your PC, most likely in the operating system configuration or perhaps in the serial port driver.

On what version of Windows are you running?

Is your FT897 connected to a serial port, or to a USB-to-serial adpator?

73,

Dave, AA6YQ

--- In dxlab@..., "cergender" <cergender@...> wrote:

Hello to all!

I downloaded and installed Commander 5.8.7. as a standalone. It was working perfectly in the beginning. I am using it mainly for tuning and saving the frequencies for my Yaesu FT-897.

Later on it started non-functioning. When selecting frequencies from the memory banks there was no effect to the radio or sometimes there was a delayed reaction.

Now every time when I start the program it shows a dialogue with the following text:

"aborting device data load operation - missing or invalid frquency: 11 -elo 2009 11:58:36> CI-V Commander version 5.8.7"

The error log from the same time shows the following:

"11-elo-2009 11:58:36 > DXLab Apps :
11-elo-2009 11:58:42 > CIVMain.Form_load: unable to register
MouseWheelControl.ocx: RegisterMouseWheelControl failed
with error code -2147467259 11-elo-2009 15:52:18 > CI-V Commander
shutdown"

It looks like something with mouse wheel control in question. But also ignoring that does not make any difference.

Before I try re-installation I was wondering if there might be a simple solution to this problem.

The computer software is WinXP Pro Sp3

Any ideas?

Ben
