Progress table DXKeeper 1.2.3

Dave,

The progress table does not seem to get updated as I add new ones.
I have to do a "Recompute" for them to show up.

That should be trivial to implement, once I find the Windows API for
the mouse wheel.

Re: Export

Actually very few programs offer the option to append. Most say
overwrite, or name another file. Yes, it would be nice to say, it
exists, overwrite it or append to it. I will almost always say
overwrite. I already knew it existed and I don't need the old
stuff anymore.

So should DXKeeper note that the specified file exists
and query the user
with something like "The file c:\mylogs\mumble.adi"
already exists -- should
I clear its current contents before appending the
exported records?"

Or would it be better to add a new Configuration

"clear contents of existing files before appending
exported records"?

Dave,

I notice that when you export log entries to an
existing ADIF file
that you append the entries instead of overwriting
the old file.
Since I use this feature mostly to add new entries to
eQSL.cc this
is not what I want. How about making append/replace optional?

Dave,

Hmm! That's something I hadn't thought of. But yes, I think that
would provide a visual indication on the Export pane that the
filter is in use. I think what we are trying to accomplish is to
make the help files irrelevant if we possibly can. If there is
some way to make the functionality obvious without reading the
directions cover to cover we're going in the right direction :-)

suspect it may be
more intuitive especially for the first time user to have a
separate filter in the export pane completely
independent of the

Since I couldn't replicate the "permanent hourglass" problem, I couldn't be
certain that I'd corrected it -- but I thought that might be the case. I did
find and correct a more egregious example -- clicking the DXCC filter button
with no prefix in the filter textbox would produce a similar situation.

Though I added the additional UTC filter range settings, I'm not satisfied
that they are sufficiently intuitive. Critique and/or suggestions would be
appreciated.

Dave,

I never had a problem with qsl.net's http pages but now have
successfully downloaded DXKeeper 1.2.3. I know you said you put
some logging in to try and catch the permanent hour glass problem
but whatever you did seems to have fixed it - I can no longer
reproduce it. Also the problem with DXView not connecting to
DXKeeper while PathView is up, seems to be fixed though I have a
feeling that it is your auto reconnect that is catching and
correcting it. The net result is, so far, everything seems very
good with this release, though I have not yet used it for real
logging.

www.qsl.net has been unstable this week; at this

disabled, as I cannot browse to any of the site's pages.

I was able to check www.qsl.net/dxkeeper via FTP, and
found all of the

No problem, Tom. Lets pick a time this weekend to get together in
real time via HF or landline and we'll walk through the interface
with your meter. Please send me a private email suggesting times that
work for you.

By the way, how are you powering your interface? If its via the RS232
port's modem control signals, you might start by verifying that the
interface has power.

Tom,

The radio sends data

- if its "CI-V Transceive" setting is on, and you change
frequency or
change modes

- in response to a query from Commander

If you didn't set "CI-V Transceive" to "on" (using the 746 menu, as
described in the manual), then you must configure CI-V Commander to
continuously query the radio by checking the "Continuous Frequency
and Mode
Interrogation" box in Commander's General configuration tab

Alternatively, you can set "CI-V Transceive" to "on", in which case
continuous queries are unnecessary

If neither of the above configurations results in Commander
displaying your
radio's frequency and mode, let me know and we'll take the next
step - which
is to check the message window.

Just in case: do you have a scope or meter?

with
no luck.

I am still suspicious that it is in the wiring but I am hoping that it is
something simple in the software or at the radio that I may have
overlooked.

Suggestions from any is gratefully welcomed

Thank you

Re: Icom RS232 interface from KG7SG

Tom,

The radio sends data

- if its "CI-V Transceive" setting is on, and you change frequency or
change modes

- in response to a query from Commander

If you didn't set "CI-V Transceive" to "on" (using the 746 menu, as
described in the manual), then you must configure CI-V Commander to
continuously query the radio by checking the "Continuous Frequency and Mode
Interrogation" box in Commander's General configuration tab

Alternatively, you can set "CI-V Transceive" to "on", in which case
continuous queries are unnecessary

If neither of the above configurations results in Commander displaying your
radio's frequency and mode, let me know and we'll take the next step - which
is to check the message window.

Just in case: do you have a scope or meter?

73,

Dave, AA6YQ

Subject: [dxlab] Icom RS232 interface from KG7SG

I am running CI-V Commander version 1.2.2 using the KG7SG interface I just
made. I am able to control the ICOM 746 via the computer but I am not
able
to receive any data from the radio.

I have double checked all wiring and software and radio config settings
with
no luck.

I am still suspicious that it is in the wiring but I am hoping that it is
something simple in the software or at the radio that I may have
overlooked.

Suggestions from any is gratefully welcomed

Thank you
