Connecting Grid Tracker to DXkeeper for automatic logging

I need some help in configuring Grid tracker to save my FT8 contacts to DXkeeper.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: QRZ subscription value?

One thing that the ARRL got right is that anyone can submit confirmations to LoTW at no charge, whether they are an ARRL member or not.

Charging for the ability to submit confirmations for QRZ awards limits the number of ops will submit confirmations via QRZ. One can satisfy "A QSL is the final courtesy of a QSO" by uploading confirmations to Club Log, eQSL, and LoTW - all at no charge.

Hi Rich,

I've used DXKeeper since 2003, Spot Collector fairly regularly, and use QRZ often to look up hams and their QTH, but almost never send cards. Back when there was RTTY activity on DXpeditions, I used WinWarbler. I upload to LOTW, eQSL, and ClubLog regularly.

I'm considering getting a subscription and API to use in DXKeeper/DXLab.
That's the only reason for a subscription -- I like to support ham software when it's requested, but they only accept subscriptions, so I haven't sent them anything.

Unless one is pursuing QRZ.com's proprietary awards that have no
general recognition or is using QRZ Log, I have found no value in
any QRZ.com subscription. DXLab Suite can harvest QSL address data
from the web pages for free - the only limitation is on the number
of daily lookups (~100) and some speed limiting (4 per minute)
neither of which is significant unless one is trying to lookup
data for contest QSOs in real time or trying to lookup data for
a large contest log.

LotW is my primary QSL route. More than 10 years ago I sought paper QSL

+ QRZ provides two separate services: "callbook lookup", and "QRZ confirmations" which are valid for "QRZ awards".

+ "Callbook lookup" is useful because it provides your QSO partner's name - which can be helpful during interactive QSOs - and location - which can confirm that your directional antenna is pointing to the correct azimuth. With a free QRZ subscription, you can configure DXKeeper to use "QRZ via Pathfinder" at no charge; yo In 'll be limited to 4 QRZ lookups per minute, which is only relevant if you import an ADIF or tab-delimited file with DXKeeper configured to perform callbook lookups of each imported QSO. Interactive usage is somewhat slowed by the fact that Pathfinder must download and display QRZ's advertising - which is why this form of access is free. the HamQTH callbook is also free, but has significantly less coverage than QRZ. QRZ's "XML Data" callbook access eliminates the rate-limiting and advertising delays, but requires an annual paid subscription. BuckMaster HamCall is an alternative paid callbook service.

+ I have been pursuing ARRL DXing awards since I first began DXing back in 1990. I thus have no personal interest in obtaining QRZ confirmations. An increasing number of DXers do pursue QRZ awards, which is why I extended DXKeeper so support uploading QSOs to QRZ. Even if you're not pursuing QRZ awards, it is polite to upload your logged QSOs to QRZ for those ops who do pursue QRZ awards; unlike Club Log, eQSL, and LoTW, however, you must purchase an annual QRZ Logbook" subscription? in order to do so. If you're competing in the annual DX Marathon, a QRZ confirmation indicates that a logged QSO is likely "low risk", and can be included in your end-of-year submission without concern that you'll lose points by having submitted a busted QSO; DXLab's Realtime Award Tracking for DX Marathon can be configured to take QRZ confirmations into account when determining whether a QSO with an active station would increase your DX Marathon score.

Dave, sorry, but I'm getting a DXKeeper text note error box that says, "This QSO has not been unlocked for Modification: perform a callbook lookup?"

+ OK, then direct DXKeeper to delete all the QSOs in your current log: on the Main window's Log QSOs tab,

1. at the bottom of the tab, click the Filter panel's X button so that all QSOs are present the Log Page Display
? * Done.

2. depress the CTRL button while clicking the CBA button above the Log Page Display
? *??error box says, "This QSO has not been unlocked for Modification: perform a callbook lookup?"? Yes/ No?

I assumed I should have deleted the contents of my log.? I see that one callsign entry is highlighted in pink.? If I choose No, nothing happens other than the text box closes.? If Yes, then I get a DXKeeper QRZ Subscriber login text box that says "No QRZ callsign specified.? I do not currently subscribe to QRZ. On closing this text box a new DXKeeper text box states, "Callbook error when looking up VU2ELJ: Program Error."

How do I cure this and?delete?the old log?

Dave, no worries?here.? I'm not blaming DXLab.? I'm not ready to blame anyone but me.? I seem to have created duplicates in my new log.? Since I'm not very far into it, starting over seemed like a good idea and might be good.? That QSO was one of my first and I sure could have made errors in the contest log that I uploaded to L32.? I could well be user errors.? I made another contact in that same contest on a different band with KR1STA and there were no errors in that part of the upload.

I don't understand why I could not import the ADIF Master "one contact" log.? Again, I'm trying to understand what I did wrong at this point.? Seemed like a no-brainer.

I'm getting a QRZ warning and need to step through the import process.? I was going to read the manual to find how/where I fix the QRZ issue.? A point to the right reading would be helpful.? I'm guessing I need to input my QRZ PW or something into DXLAb somewhere.

+ Just to be clear, the root cause of this situation is that the logging application from which you exported the ADIF file allowed you to log a QSO with inconsistent components: a DXCC entity of "Continental US" with a State of "Hawaii". DXKeeper imported the ADIF record, and informed you of the inconsistency so that you could correct it. DXKeeper couldn't automatically perform the correction because it has no way of knowing which item is incorrect: the DXCC entity, or the State.

Followed documentation to run older exe file to no avail.

If I go to ports and select a port with 19200 - 8,none,2,off,on, nothing connects.

I am running Windows 11 and did not upgrade. Failed to do a restore point before upgrade of Commander.
I am at a lost! Any ideals what I can try.

1. start Commander

2. on the Configuration window's General tab, check the "Log debugging info" box

3. terminate Commander

4. start Commander

5. wait 1 minute

6. on the Configuration window's General tab, uncheck the "Log debugging info" box

If you've already imported the log, make the change in
DXKeeper's Log QSOs tab. Select the QSO and make the
change to either: Code (set to 110), DXCC (set to KH6)
or Entity (set to Hawaii). It could not be more simple.

Agree with all Joe. ?I was just alerting folks that they might want to check LOTW online to get the latest date if it is a station they are interested in. ?Ordinarily I would disregard this station based on the 2023 last upload date shown in DXView or JTAlert. ?Also these would never show up as an LOTW call in SpotCollector unless someone is using a long time frame to determine active LOTW stations.
