Graphics cards and Monitors for the shack/ DXLabs

I hope this is not too far off topic.? I'm researching graphics cards and monitors to upgrade my shack to have more DXLabs and WSJT-X?windows.? My current monitor is a TV/Monitor that just does not offer enough room for much more than WSJT-X or DXKeeper.? I do understand that I do not need all windows open at once to be able to use DXLabs.? I gave my daughter my old monitor and it allowed so much more on the screen while maintaining good detail.

My problem is I have not yet been able to define the use case so I can decide which combination of capabilities is best for ham radio.? There is a good general reference on this subject in the DXLab references.? Written by? Dave, W6DE, it is:? ?

My computer?has an Intel UHD 730 graphics card (max resolution is 1920 x 1080p but 1360 x 760p is recommended).? It may well be too basic for a UHD or 4K monitor (3840 x 2160p), and I'm not yet convinced that a QHD 1440p monitor will meet my needs.? I'm seeing UHD graphics cards designed for gaming or photo editing that seem to cost as much as a monitor.? I'm doubting that hams need all that graphics power but I don't actually know what capability I need to have.? My real goal is to be able to place most of the DXLabs windows up at once with enough sharpness to read all the details.

I'm looking to understand what is needed in a new graphics card to match a 4K/UHD or a 1440p monitor without breaking the bank, grin.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

How does one set up a user defined code within QSL_RCVD and
APP_DXKEEPER_LotW_QSL_RCVD that is treated as 'Y' for filling
the Progress (RAT) Tables?
+ I didn't suggest setting up user-defined codes for QSL_RCVD and LotW_QSL_RCVD because that's not supported. Providing a practical means by which a user could specify how every aspect of DXLab's Realtime Award Tracking for 7 award families should respond to each new user-defined code for QSL_RCVD and LotW_QSL_RCVD is not technically feasible, at least for this developer.?
A separate database field is overkill for this application.
+ The separate database fields that support user-defined items are already in place; their use with single-character codes would not result in any significant additional overhead.?

It would be handy if ADIF/Dave were to defined a 'P' (pending) status
for those of us who prefer to manually prepare submissions as the
confirmations arrive.
+ You can setup a user-defined item named "Pending" and use whatever codes you like to represent the states of your manually-managed award submissions.

Re: LoTW Application query

Hi Phil,
Yes, you are correct. It should be 'Y' in the LOTW status box. I was thinking of the DXCC progress display, where that entity would show as confirmed using the 'C'. So the new QSOs should show a LOTW received status of 'Y', which is set automatically when you update your QSL status from LOTW. When you use DXK to assemble your next submission, the confirmed QSOs you you select will have their LOTW status set to 'S' - you don't have to do it manually.

Re: LoTW Application query

Thanks for the answer, but there isn't an option to set the LoTW recvd to 'C'. I only have R, Y, S, V, I or X to choose from, so they
are currently set at Y.
Which, at present, is the correct answer for - both LotW and Card -
confirmations received while an application is pending (about two
months these days). Then one must use the DXKeeper submission
generator to find those "new" confirmations in the future.

It would be handy if ADIF/Dave were to defined a 'P' (pending) status
for those of us who prefer to manually prepare submissions as the
confirmations arrive.

Hi Phil,
The newly confirmed QSOs should be left set to 'C' until you generate a new submission. Just because they were confirmed while you have an application pending, the new QSOs will not be processed in addition to the original 88. I'm guessing you assumed they would be added and that is why you want to set them to 'S'? So, no sticky note needed, DXK will handle the new confirmations as part of your next submission.

LoTW Application query

Hi Dave and the group,

?

Last week, I made an LoTW application (88 slots), but since then, I have had some new slots confirmed via LoTW.

Because I have an application pending, I am unable to add these via LoTW, and also, I can't set these to "S" in the LoTW rcvd box, as when my application is granted, those with the S set since would be changed to V when I verify the current submission.

?

Is there a way within DXKeeper to handle this? I currently just have a "Sticky Notes" on screen with notes about these QSO's.

updated eQSL AG, LoTW, and RDA databases are available ...

?
... via the Databases tab of DXView's Configuration window.
?
Terminate DXKeeper, WinWarbler, and SpotCollector before directing DXView to update these databases.

Note: if DXKeeper, WinWarbler, and SpotCollector are running when you direct DXView to update these databases, it will display a small window that informs you of that fact, and directs you to terminate them before proceeding. If you do terminate those applications, then afterwards click the window's OK button and DXView will proceed to update the databases; if you don't want to terminate those applications, click the window's Cancel button, and DXView won't attempt to update the databases.

In the next version of DXView, I've improved the message in the small window to be more clear about the functions of its OK and Cancel buttons.

I'm preparing alternate My QTHs information.? Where it calls for Street, City and?Post Code, do I enter the data for that field location on my mailing information for correspondence?? POTA locations may not have such information, but I could find something close if that is meaningful?
+ The contents of those items are primarily used when printing QSL cards or labels using "QSL Substitution Commands" like <streetaddress> and <city>, as described here:

+ Populate them accordingly - which may be "not at all".

Re: question regarding Commander

Should the stright through cable work or do I need a null
modem cable?
Computer is generally DTE. Does the 7800 have a female DE9
RS-232 connector and the computer a male DE9 connector? If
so, a straight through (pin for pin) connection is appropriate.

It should work with connections for only pins 2,3 and 5 ...
make sure Commander and the IC-7800 are set for the same
CI-V address (6Ah default) and the same data communication
rate. DO NOT use the default AUTO in the 7800 - either
9600 or 19200 should work fine. Since only 2,3,5 are used,
Commander's Primary CAT Serial Port (and MultiRadio port if
used) should be 8,N,1, OFF/N, OFF/N ...
