You need a low horizon in the west with no clouds or very few.? Go out and note where the sun sets. The comet will appear to the right of where the sun went down. To help get an idea of where to look

For a comet that only comes around once every 80,000 years we splurged and drove to the observation area on 13 north of Fisherman’s Island. Lots of background lights but still beautifully visible.
