Re: Mini Lathe Dividing Attachment
开云体育Hello Dick,
?
I'm glad that you are happy with both Google Drive and your
Micromark 7x16. I try to pass along the things that have worked well for me,
along with the things that have not, like the milling attachment for the 7x
lathes. But in the end it is all personal opinion. A bad one will always seem to
slip through every now and then no matter what it is.

Re: Mini Lathe Dividing Attachment
Hi Michael,
The milling head is part of my Unimat DB200 lathe. I made an adapter for the mini lathe and it works very well within it's size limitations. By the way, I do have to thank you for your reccomendation to use Google Drive. Also I might mention that you were instrumental in my buying the MicroMark 7 X 16 lathe. I read the case you made for the MicroMark about 5 years back and I have never had second thoughts on my purchase. Dick |

Re: Reversing gear problem

Good news.
The old dried grease was softened by spraying WD40 into the joint on both sides of the pot metal casting so i could pull out the shaft and gear. On inspection i found the previous owner had never cleaned the shipping grease out of that joint but had tried to dab some lithium grease in the general direction of the bearing but to no effect. I failed to disassemble the parts in the 6 years i have owned this 7x10 harbor freight lathe so am guilty of neglect. Once cleaned and reassembled with wheel bearing grease the mechanism now works smoothly so back to making chips fly. Thanks for all your help and advise Pete McLaughlin |

开云体育Did I mention "precaution handling"?? I said it may work differently, might just mean today's batch corrodes metal or removes a finish that yesterday's batch didn't.As it's already flammable I doubt they'd make it more flammable.? But in precautions you might get a batch that irritates skin or your breathing when it didn't in the past. Unlike WD-40 with it's tightly controlled formula this stuff varies around.? That's all.? 开云体育Yes, but it works great for drilling blind holes!!? and they burn
it in cars, even in California...... We deal with many things that need precaution handling (use outdoors, don't drink it, don't swallow fish hooks) and this, cutting oil and WD-40 are all on that list. I just refuse to build a signature file that says wear eye
protection, don't wear a tie, roll your long sleeves up and don't
lick electrical sockets.? It is the responsibility of the
purchaser to know and understand the hazards of the tools and
products he buys.? The directions are on the can..... I would expect the warning had some immediately dangerous
solution from a source that may not offer a warning, but the
Danger Flammable and Danger Poison on the can (and the
accompanying instructions for use) should prove adequate in this
case. Warren L On 8/3/2017 12:48 PM, Jerry Durand

In addition to WD40, I've used it (both outdoors) and turpentine effectively to remove caked grease in the past.? Don't get impatient though, it does take a while to soak clear through.? Do not use rubbing alcohol though - high percentage of water that could make it worse (rust trumps varnish in a fist fight) and if you use alcohol, oil (or WD 40 immediately on release.?
