Re: Reversing gear problem
Soak it down in a penetrating solution....if the grease varnished, a couple of days in that may well get it loose with no damage, pounding, heat issues. Warren L [7x12minilathe] wrote:

Re: Reversing gear problem

Re: Reversing gear problem
Hi Pete, I made the dog clutch in 2009 so don't recall the details. I do know it wasn't difficult to remove and replace that shaft without removing the die cast cover on the end of the machine.

Re: C2 or C3 ?
last time I tried to figure it out, they were fighting over with or without a chuck.....I gave up. I'm pretty sure it was sold as a 14, but I never ran out of room, so I didnt worry about it too much.

Re: Reversing gear problem

Re: C2 or C3 ?
Hi Warren, You most likely know this, but I will say it anyway for the benefit of those that might not. Set your tailstock as far to the right as it will go and still be able to clamp up on the bed.

Thank you, Michael I knew, that as a fellow MM 7 x 16 owner, I could count on you to have the lowdown as best it can be explained. I love this machine with its extra real estate to the right of the

Re: C2 or C3 ?
Hello Dick, Here is the way I understand it. The Micromark 7x16 lathe was first designed by Micromark and manufactured by SIEG. Since Micromark designed it (longer bed, new for its time tailstock

Re: Reversing gear problem
Been there, done that.... The shaft (46) runs in a "bearing" , the hole in the fixed cover, or drive belt cover as LMS calls it. The shaft is frozen in the cover, and both should be replaced.

Oh, and that the C2 has a DC motor and the C3 has the brush-less. Warren L [7x12minilathe] wrote:

Re: C2 or C3 ?
And while we're at it, and before I answer you with a rumor instead of a fact, I've heard the C2s from MM are painted red, and they switched to the gray paint on the C3. However, I never ran that into

Re: C2 or C3 ?
Go to the Sieg web site and look up the specs on a Sieg C3 and compare to what you have. If they match then you likely have a Sieg C3. http://www.siegind.com/products_detail/&productId=82.html

C2 or C3 ?
This may seem a silly question. I think my Micro Mark 7 x 16 is a C3 but I can't find anything in my documentation that would confirm that and I don't find any markings on the lathe bed. How does one

Re: Reversing gear problem
As Warren says, the shaft can be removed after you take the bracket (two screws) off. This shaft is the one that gets replaced to add a dog clutch so you may find the pictures in the description
