Hi Howard Yeah the trick to getting these saws to cut square in both horizontal and vertical directions at the same time is: 1.Do? horizontal squareness 1st, by setting WORK parallel to the pivot shaft in Plan View - looking from above - (i.e fixed vice jaw is parallel to shaft), then setting sawblade square to the pivot shaft, also in Plan View (i.e with joint between pivot arm and sawframe castings) 2. Do vertical squareness 2nd, by getting work parallel to the pivot shaft in Front Elevation - looking from the front of the saw over the vice table - (i.e vice table has to be parallel to the pivot shaft and also not humped or hollowed) and the sawblade square to the pivot shaft, also in Front Elevation (i.e by twisting of the saw roller guides). All of these are adjustable except the vice table parallel to the pivot shaft, which is part of the way the saw was made (boring the holes on the pivot ears parallel to the vice table and the casting not warping after machining).? Lots of work to correct, but it is possible The saw CANNOT cut square in both directions unless both these things are right at the same time.? When they are, these saws will cut all day long at better than 3thou" per inch of cut. To get it this good you need a sensitive squareness test, which?is detailed in 'Buying a Used 4x6 Bandsaw' in Files section -? /g/4x6bandsaw/files/Buying%20a%20Used%204x6%20Bandsaw%20v4.pdf?This is all a Royal PITA (mumble grumble). If Rong Fu are going to re-design the saw, they could do us all a favour by making saw-cut squareness part of the way the saw is made, so it cant be set wrong! . Rick The primary adjustment for horizontal squareness of cut comes from the joint between the sawframe?and the PIVOT ARM at the left-hand rear of the saw. Do not move the fixed jaw out of parallel with the pivot shaft, or you'll ruin the vertical squareness you've achieved because the arc of the blade is moving in 3D space.?? Slightly loosen the two 5/16" bolts that clamp the joint and ease the direction of the joint fore and aft with a soft hammer to swing the line of the cut in the direction you want. Be careful - its?effect is counter-intuitive, and VERY sensitive, so its easy to move the joint in the wrong direction and to move it too much. If you can't?get enough movement, then use a rat-tail file to open out the slots in the pivot arm to give yourself more adjustment.? If your saw has eccentric bushes on the guide rollers on the inside of the blade loop, you can use that to adjust horizontal squareness by moving one in one direction?and one the other way, but it screws with the guide roller separation and vertical squareness if you run a wide guide roller gap, so is not the preferred option - jv

John, ? Your email is much appreciated, and the timing is perfect. ? With the saw in the vertical position, I was aligning the fence to the blade. That is far easier and potentially less destructive than turning the blade guide assembly. I can see that the more the blade guides are turned along the blade’s major axis, the more the blade must twist, which can’t be good. ? As I started to address Howard’s request for alignment in the horizontal position, I built a bar with an adjustable slope. It addresses the blade twist just as I did in the vertical position. It was then that I noticed that the cut on 1/8-inch thick aluminum plate was an arc. As I was scratching my head of that behavior, your email came in. ? I’m not too keen about adjusting with just a soft hammer. I would prefer to have a pushrod dial test indicator on that joint, so I know where I started and how much I’ve moved. If not too complicated, a pair of set screws would be a nice way to adjust the joint smoothly. ? Lots to learn here! ? Thanks, John. ? Rick

As others here have said, search Internet for "4x6 bandsaw mods".
The "magic" will be to find a way to increase quality of the saw without increasing price, or increasing price just a bit.? Things like the grade of bolts and nuts used for example. I had problems with blade tracking on my HF saw and found the factory bolts in the upper wheel adjustments were all stripped. Also, the plastic adjustment handwheels for blade tension and movable fence adjustment broke quickly. The idea of accessories that easily fit on eBay would be great.? The
better vertical table, downfeed, jaws for holding small items, lubricant
pump, things like that.
My biggest problems with my bandsaw (HF brand) aside from getting one
that wasn't broken into pieces on delivery was the idle wheel bearing
had been pressed on over the painted shaft.? The over tight fit caused
the bearing to be damaged so I had to replace that early on.? Also, the
"4x6" bandsaw wouldn't actually cut 3x6 metal.? I had to fabricate a new
vice jaw.
But, it does cut very straight and cleanly.

It is nice to see a manufacturer take an interest.
I would also recommend you check out Mr. Sparber’s site where he documents his mods to his band saw.
I don’t see him listed in the directory any more so he may no longer be a member,
but some of his mods are genius.
Many would require very little on the manufacturing end to have “built in”.

However, we're here for a better possibility to design a new small bandsaw in the near future! you mentioned you need vertical cutting solution, and table for that. I have to admit many small bandsaw owners have similar point of view, we collected many owner's opinions at below link, it is a question survey just to summary owner's opinions, Can you help to fill it? some of question you may interesting! Just take few mins for you but give us big help for re-design a better small bandsaw

inefficient ways to boost production.? But apparently we
must be protected from activities like that, which would
would increase the supply of critical goods.
Sometimes the cure for high prices, is high
prices.? Obscene profit attracts innovators who find
creative ways to increase supply.
As for these overpriced masks, presumably the odds
are in favor with you guys's suspicions.? Its likely
just another case of of marking up as much as he can to
make extra $.? If so, that's irritating.? ?But its also
irritating that society is willing to harm us all (with
artificially low supply of critical goods) in the name
of punishing a few bad actors.
I'm not trying to be critical of the warnings posted
about the link.? It think you guys' caution is well
justified.? I'm just irritated about what I see as some
misguided laws.
