¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCan this be set up as a two tier group? You'd have your "free" section that has valuable information but limited. Just enough to keep you wanting more. Here is my version of the blade brush designed by Rob M.? ?I bought a 8 mm pillow block bearing and brush.? ?I turned the shaft and spacer and bent/punched holes in the 16 gage sheet metal.? ?This works really good.? ?The sheet metal looks a little funny, but the design intent was to help control the direction of the swarf.? ?I have a life time supply of the little brushes.?
My next two projects are to make an oiler to help lubricate the blade as it is cutting (not a liquid immersion) and a table that extends from the front of the saw.? ?I want the table to allow me to have a stop and to keep the thin parts from falling /getting jammed between the table and the saw blade.? ?I am hoping to get these done before Christmas. Joe, My experience has been that it doesn't hurt to have more than one moderator so long as the rules are fairly simple. We can cover for one another when unexpected events happen, among other things. Group owner needs to set the rules, such as they are, and let them be known. I'm willing if you need or want the help. I own a couple of groups, and moderate on a couple more, mostly metalworking, or metalworking related. I prefer to keep the discussion mostly metalworking related (or 3D printing, on a group where that's part of the focus). I try to keep the politics pretty light, though I'm not perfect at that myself, and mostly go for polite, and helpful. Ain't perfect at that, either, unfortunately, but I try. I am retired, 65yo, getting to be kind of fat. I'm not a machinist, but I am taking a class. Have been for over 5? years, very part-time. I have been doing metalworking of one sort and another for at least 55? years. My GI Joe had a steel sword, spear & arrow points on his weapons, among other things. I've done a bit of jewelry work, some armouring, including wearing it to fight with sword and shield, a tiny bit of amateur gunsmithing, and I've made and modified tools and toys, and such like. When it comes to wood, I'm more a wood butcher than anything else. A bit of computer & electronics work and play, and been some sort of maintenance mechanic for about a quarter of my adult life. High-performance fighter jets, automobiles, and industrial laundry equipment, among other things. I read a lot, and remember at least some of what I read, and my google-fu is fair to middling, so I can even find the info again sometimes.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Likewise, Ralph. Several of the groups that you and I both belong to made the move to groups.io, and to premium groups where appropriate, because I and others (including you) suggested such, and volunteered funds to help make it happen. The Metal Shapers group I moved myself, since I was the owner. Funds to support the move originally came out of my pocket, at a time when I had some spare funds. Others who agreed with us that the move was a good idea ponied up their own funds to keep it going. I don't have much in the way of spare funds now, or I'd volunteer more of my money to do this. SWMBO is getting cataract surgery next week, and we've decided to get her the kind of lenses that correct her severe astigmatism, as well as replacing the damaged lenses. $3400 out of pocket for the lenses, plus whatever the insurance won't pay for the surgeries, and the drugs needed for pre- & post-operative care. She will need new glasses, after her recovery, too. This on top of over 5 grand in other medical and dental and vision care, and after we lost the commercial medical insurance that evaporated when my job did, in April. I'm about tapped out, right now, but this group is worth something to me, and I hope to several others, as well. I guess we'll find out in the next few days or weeks which route, or routes, the group decides it wants to take.? Another thing that might be worth some discussion would be a few more owners and/or moderators. The Metal Shapers group has several co-owners now, as I was a member of several groups that J. W. Early owned before his untimely death. They all eventually evaporated as there was no one who could keep them going after his passing.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Re: Uploading Photos and Files to [email protected].
You're right, I did switch them. Which makes it a good way to reduce the size of the group a bit, after all.? Good catch! It will certainly be cheaper than upgrading the group to premium. Might be a challenge to do without losing useful info, though. I've been doing Yahoo & Groups.io groups for about a dozen years or so, now. Eliminating duplicate files and photos, particularly where they've been re-quoted, might be all that is needed. Or maybe not. Some folks are really good about avoiding reposting such things, and others not so well. I'm kinda spotty at that, myself, since I do a lot of my posting on a small-screen phone.? File existing photos in a subgroup so new photos , all the files and messages stay with the main group? - jv |

Looks like a valuable resource to me.? If you're talking about the group itself, it's a bit easier to RTFI. If you log into the groups.io homepage, on the top right there is a help button. You don't really need to be logged in to see it, but you might as well. It gives you a button for the owner's manual, user's manual, FAQ, and some other good info. The owner's manual can be downloaded as a PDF, or read as a one-page (long!) document.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Pretty sure you're going to find that only works on premium groups. And even there it shares the total space of the group, which is 20gb. Next step up is enterprise groups, and those are $200/month and 1tb of storage. /static/pricing Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.)
